Here’s How To Be Gracious To The Opposition
President Obama, speaking to a like-minded crowd in New Orleans, didn’t let them get away with booing Republican Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
President Obama, speaking to a like-minded crowd in New Orleans, didn’t let them get away with booing Republican Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
And the media has more than its share of people presenting things from a leftward perspective and framing everything in terms of checkpoints on the DNC platform.
Yes, it does. But the majority of political framework on the media goes toward the Republicans and more often than that goes to the Military Industrial Complex.
So this whole “left wing media” nonsense is just that, complete nonsense.
Something people talk about on the right wing to try and make up for the fact that part of their current ideology is denying facts of science and hard proven data.
No, ignoring him not make him go away.
I’m saying unless we want to cover just how ugly and how disgusting what he does is, we should probably just ignore him.
He feeds on everyone quoting him and saying his name but hates it when MSNBC mentions him. Because they call him “Boss Limbaugh” and “The Comedian” and other titles like that.
I call him “Dr. Evil”.
So we can certainly talk some Limbaugh, who cares?
I’m just warning that he gets off on the attention and it was his goal from the beginning.
What he doesn’t want is for people to see he is just an avowed racist with a radio show. The simple truth, minus his daily meme or gag.
Eric, one question, do you think libs reacting to everything he says on a daily basis makes Rush who he is? In other words, if we ignore Rush, will he go away?
Well my real beef is with Rodger Ailes but only a certain number of people even know who that is…
Thats why Limbaugh has a huge dedicated audience but couldn’t get more than 5% of the vote in a national election.
That’s not what Limbaugh thinks or said about it.
He compared himself to Sara Palin, Mit Romney and Mike Huckabee when asked about that issue on MSNBC.
much to the chagrin of his base who can’t distinguish the difference between a commentator who can advocate rounding up all immigrants and deporting them as opposed to someone trying to find a viable political option that will be passed by a congress
People who think Limbaugh has no power are misinformed or kidding themselves (like Alan Colmes).
The fact that he advocates for non-solutions and ten calls himself the “truth source of America” and all that kind of noise is the problem.
People need to understand it is entertainment and is is HIS job to do that, not Alan Colmes or you or I.
He needs to tell people that call to stroke his ego that he is just an entertainer and they should turn to elected reps to fill in the gaps they turn to him for.
But if you ever listent to the show he sells himself like the one man who “gets it” in the US.
It’s disgusting on another level because he engages in anti-black race baiting and then people on the rigt defend him for it.
Just like with Beck.
In fact Beck is just a spawn of the hatred that Limbaugh grew and cultivated.
Also you have to remember who the audience is. When Beck was on CNN he was a lot quieter, both becuase he had less control over his show and he wasn’t attracting many right wing viewers. Probably the only right wing commentator who tries to be measured is Scarborough, but he is on a VERY liberal network early in the morning, not exactly primetime competition, and he also has held elected office and understands the reality of politics. And the media has more than its share of people presenting things from a leftward perspective and framing everything in terms of checkpoints on the DNC platform.
And just for the record I think Beck is bad for the conservative movement and the only reason I would watch his show is to see if Mike Malloy is a clairvoyant. Nobody wants to watch a softball host in the era of cable.

Refreshing, and a good example of not sinking to the level of your detractors.

The President of The United States of America:
–
I agree with Obama on this point, but there is a deeper element here that he skipped over (it is a speech).
When these people work hard to only lie and smear and change the facts to suit their needs, that is nothing to give someone credit for. That is something that harms the nation and harms the state.
But let’s really take a look here:
Barack Obama has always been this way. He was always a fair man and trying to pull people together rather than cast them apart.
Yet in the end result of his presidency thus far he is a massively devisive figure.
Why?
Because people who hate him never listen to his words nor judge him based on his words, actions, policies … they appear to be judging him based on his skin color or failing that party association.
Either way these people (not Jindal, but more like Beck) are “working hard” but only to make up new lies and new ways to demean freedom & liberty with horsecrud.
So it’s nice and great that Obama is still who he is … but the people opposed to him are not ever going to become respectful or sane.
They love their hatred, bigotry and racism too much.
I wonder if Obama understands this concept……

Beck isn’t an elected official, he’s a media personality. It does his business better to play to his audience. Thats why Limbaugh has a huge dedicated audience but couldn’t get more than 5% of the vote in a national election. If what Beck did wasn’t what his fans wanted he’d have no audience, just like a lot of personalities the other way. When you are shooting for the loyalty of a couple of million people coming back to you one hour a day instead of a hundred million people watching your every move that actually has consequences for their lives its a good tactic to not get too rough.
Even Bush tried to not appear as a partisan during his tenure while Cheney and Rove worked behind the scenes, much to the chagrin of his base who can’t distinguish the difference between a commentator who can advocate rounding up all immigrants and deporting them as opposed to someone trying to find a viable political option that will be passed by a congress trying to get reelected. This is the lesson Obama is learning the hard way trying to navigate health care reform to his desk.

Jindal has been pretty fair to the president and has a similar personal quality of being a bit fidgety criticizing the opposition personally, it wouldn’t be that hard to stand up for him.
Obama probably would have done the same for a fierce critic but it would have come across as more of a rehearsed formality. There is a lot of truth that the people who yell and scream get more coverage than people who are more measured.
Also remember he isn’t in a campaign right now and therefore its a pretty good idea to try to elevate the dignity of office as president of everyone.

I remember Obama and McCain, while in campaign mode, making efforts to not make personal jabs or let people get away with the booing and catcalling.
I remember some slip ups too.

Further proof that Mr. O is a “class act”.
I listened to the speech on the radio and it’s nice others recognized that moment. Thank you.
