David H. Safavian, the top procurement official at the General Services Administration in the Bush43 administration, was sentenced to a year in prison for lying about his ties to lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Mr. Safavian, ex-chief of staff at the General Services Administration, was accused of hiding his efforts to help Mr. Abramoff win federal business. He was convicted in December of obstruction of justice and making false statements.
