On Monday’s Radio Show…
• Balloon Bust: We’ll deliberate the proper punishment for the weather wackos who turned out to be full of hot air.
• Is the anti-Obama lawmaker who wore a hat reading “OPOSSUM the other dark meat” a racist, or just misunderstood? Alan gives Kansas state Rep. Bill Otto an opportunity to defend his actions.
• Health Care Hogwash: Alan debunks the right-wing myth that the American people oppose a public option.

FOX CABLE AIN’T no NEWS ORGANIZATION !!!!
It’s about time to identify them as junk news/ GOP arm extension.

It’s the cable version of the “National Enquirer”.

You’re both right.

Oppossum is how some of us spell possum. It likely has little connection to “Obama”. “Dark meat” likely also has little to do with Obama.
Still, this should only prompt us again to ask the question “what’s the matter with Kansas?”.

Outside of Wichita, Topeka and Kansas City there are few black folks in Kansas. You’d probably stand a better chance of meeting a Martian in LeRoy, KS than anyone of African-American descent.

Coffey County, KS …
As of the U.S. Census in 2000, there were 8,865 people, 3,489 households, and 2,477 families residing in the county. … The racial makeup of the county was 96.95% White, 0.25% Black or African American …”
I take that back. While there are no Black folks in LeRoy, there are 22 African-Americans in Coffey County.

Yes, I know. You know. We know. You know.

Good, and next you deflate the people who followed a balloon that would never have supported a child of that age for that much lift into the air with their video cameras except nobody ever asked this simple question.
The only thing anyone ever asked was:
“Do you think I’ll get an Emmy for this?”

Malcolm X was “misunderstood”.
Bill Otto is a racist. Probably taking a note from the radio racists like Limbaugh and Beck.

Two examples come to mind. One brand new and another quite old (Easter 2008) that are just that which I have noticed:
1. Misquoting Jimmy Carter in a news-ticker.
The need for proper quoting is an obvious function of the integrity of an organization. I see this kind of thins as an affront to the truth. Twisting words to suit your specific political agenda is not the function of a “news” agency, in any form.
2. Showing a Christian cross and the message “Happy Easter” independent of any specific program.
What could be called a “network-generated advertisement” for Christanity by the network itself without having the network in question come forward about a institutional bias regarding Christanity in the US. If the network is not religion neutral then they should declare this bias to the public they serve.
–
Those two are mine.
LiberalViewer has a huge list.
I defy you, Alan Colmes, to actually study the topic of Media Bias because you used to be right about this topic but not anymore.
It’s 2009, not 2008. Dubya’s still in office, at Fox Broadcasting Company. The Media-wing of The Republican Party is a better way to describe it than anything else.
That political organization is becoming nothing but a right-wing lobby.
One that trys to be immune from all just critism, thus prehaps it is a fascist-right regime.
If I worked for any brand of “Fox” I would question the integrity and value of the whole network, on a daily basis.
Muck rakes were meant for people who admit to their biases, and promote societal solutions with their critism. Facts over fiction, not fiction over facts.
These people like Rupert Murdoch and Rodger Ailes are propping up more than just sleaze-merchants like Beck, they are actually selling a bad product.
A mislabeled product.
“Fair & Balanced” couldn’t be further from the truth. But it moved from a simple inaccuracy to a case of false advertising.
And that’s what I’m really talking about:
False political advertising = “spin”

By the way, Liberaland, depending on the definition of “cable news” you want to use … MSNBC is the new #1 cable news agency in the US. The White House defintion precludes specifcally FOX from their list of “news” agencies and there are many people studied in journalism who agree.
FOX is comedy, in it’s many forms. Comedy mixed with psuedo-news, even in a news-ticker. Even in a newscast, straight up and non-opinion. The network still finds little ways to make a joke about politics and / or religion.
–
The “Teleprompter Meme” is a good example of how FOX News Talk, specifically, fails at doing a complete job.
The newscast of their’s covered it quite well when the teleprompter broke and Obama continued on with issue but the sound-byte goes ignored by the same radio-jocks working for them and the network obviously doesn’t care to correct their employees on simple facts.
–
I tried that. It doesn’t work.

It’s really all about ratings. The more drama and dissent, the more people will watch. It’s Like WWF. We know it’s crap, but it’s entertaining (to some)
