On Tuesday’s Radio Show…

• Alan and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, whose latest book is To Try Men’s Souls, debate the role of government in health care reform.

What century is this? Alan judges the latest comments from the Justice of the Peace who refused to marry an interracial couple.

• Would dressing as an “illegal alien” for Halloween be in poor taste? Alan dares to discuss this costume controversy.

  1. As the alien is clearly not Latino, I don’t understand what the problem is.

If anyone should be insulted by the costume, it might only be the Martians. If you can find one of those to ask him how he feels about the costume, you’ll have bigger news to worry about than a silly Halloween mask.

If I find I’ve encountered a Martian, I’d probably be too speechless to ask him anything! But if I DID ever find my voice, then I think I’d ask if he’s come to abduct all the Republicans. It would, after all, be good for this planet, and maybe good for the Republicans, too. Why should they settle for having some red states when they could have a whole red planet instead?

  2. “Growed” is the past tense of the verb “grow”, in the South.

Makin’ fun of the way little ol’ ladies from down South talk? Anyone from “Noo Yawk” has little room to make fun of others’ speech!!

Reminds me of the Brett Butler anecdote, where she related that she encountered this guy from the Bronx that said to her, “You’re from the South, aren’t you; isn’t that where all the people TAWWLK STOOO-PID?”

  3. Fox is NoT News.

    Indeed not, Pierre!

  4. Alan Colmes -

“The White House should not single out a single news organization.”

    I’ve flip-flopped on this issue.

At first I was with the Obama White House on this, but after thinking about it and reading the words of those who know more about politics than myself and I have reconsidered.

I agree with Alan about this, but for a different reason.

I don’t want to empower the media-wing of The Conservative Movement in any way, and this move from Obama is only a “bad play” from The President because he is picking out one cable political not-a-news-organization. If any president were to stand up against BS News in it’s many forms, then I’d be on board with that.

I see the sense in it, though Alan seems blind to it.

    It’s a Hit-Network that is “in-the-tank” for the Anti-Obama Movement these days.

It’s more an issue of swinging back, than ignoring them, as to “what I think Obama should do” here.

He shouldn’t single one agency out just because they are the monolith of spin, while ignoring the minor after-notes of spin.

The US President should set an example by just saying “no” to media bias in any form.

“These people think we have horns on our head.”

    Not you, your bosses.

And a couple of those people running around doing the same thing as you, except insane.

And I have bosses with horns on their heads, too. So we can relate.

Being a good person working under a corporate-regime is something I know well.

Now it’s a dating show … okay. Next do the Loveline thing. Weird sexual issues always make good copy for radio!

    Gingrich is such a spinster.

Pelosi is as left-wing as he is right-wing, on equal footing.

It is just his need to play politics that we see there.

Pelosi is not that “radical”, by any means.

The “radical” left-wing is still irked at her for failing to impeach Bush.

Gingrich has this whole complicated model just to keep the for-profit-only health care system we have but he would be the only person doing this in the real world. Everyone else would just continue to waste money without some kind of real national reform.

I’m sure he did present that to the White House, and they probably told him that it’s not going to work for the whole country. Obviously. Also rather than trimming existing waste his plan focuses on an expected “breakthrough” that anyone doing scientific research is always loathe to guarantee to the funders.

It sounds like a great way to run a single health care provider that Newt Gingrich could run himself. This idea that the insurance giants would just copy him is plain false.
