AP: Palin Received $1.25 Million For Book So Far

Going Rogue, as opposed to the parody book Going Rouge, due to be released the same day, netted the former Alaska governor at least one and a quarter million dollars, according to a just-released disclosure statement.
The document only provides a partial picture of the book deal because it doesn’t cover the three months she has been out of office. Palin doesn’t elaborate on her book compensation, describing the $1.25 million figure only as a “retainer.”

Its called capitalism. People bought it, it satisfies a demand people are willing to pay. Thats how the world works, if you point a gun at people and try to steal from them to send things where you want them your whole system collapses because people stop producing.

Fire melts steel, Obama was born in Hawaii, the grassy knoll was empty, and people are willing to buy Sarah Palin’s book. Its not even like she’s a frontrunner for the GOP contenders so it wouldn’t be worth the investment.
I know Daily Kos runs the loony tunes theories about all conservative books outsell liberal crap because they are all bought wholesale, but its the same reason why CNN is bottoming out and MSNBC only gets wierdo bloggers and drug rehab patients. People as whole aren’t insane. Sarah Palin generates a lot of interest, she’s become something of a cause celeb for the opposition, so while she’s almost certainly too toxic for representative democracy it makes gangbusters for sales. Put that in your bong and toke it.

Very few people care one way or the other.
But not a lot of liberals tend to buy books written by politicians, and it’s nice to have The 40 year old Conservative Book Club…..3 books for $1.00.
Personally, I’d rather her be successful selling books than have her finger on the button.

I read a lot of books but sadly right now there aren’t many good political books from the Conservative point of view. I’ve read some thought-provoking books from Lou Dobbs and Pat Buchanana but there is a dearth of cerebral material from the Right.
I haven’t read Newt’s recent books but his reinvention as a historian isn’t credible to me. Glenn Beck’s books are too ridiculously partisan and reality-challenged to take seriously. Ann Coulter seems to want to create more controversy than actual debate.
If Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz, Don Rumsfeld or even Cheney came out with a book, I’d buy it just to see if I could find the answer to the ‘what were thinking/C’mon Man’ behind their political strategies.

One wonders if there is some advantage to that, legally.
Other than that, I am fine with her making money and maintaining her prominence in the GOP. She was a torpedo in the hull of the McCain campaign and Ilook for more of the same from her.
Now she can afford those designer clothes now, especially since hubby is out of a job…
