Joe Lieberman Could Back GOP Health Care Filibuster
Laffy goes so far as to call him “Traitor Joe.”
Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) said “that he’d back a GOP filibuster of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s health care reform bill,” Politico reports.
“His comments confirmed that Reid is short of the 60 votes needed to advance the bill out of the Senate, even after Reid included the opt-out provision. Several other moderate Democrats expressed skepticism at the proposal as well, but most of the wavering Democratic senators did not go as far as Lieberman Tuesday, saying they were waiting to see the details.”
Said Lieberman: “I’ve told Sen. Reid that if the bill stays as it is now I will vote against cloture.”
Is Joe posturing or does he really want to stand in the way of reform?

Let the Repubs do a filibuster! And if Lieberman participates it’ll just hurt him. A public spectacle (of Senators wasting time) will just solidify the impression that the Republicans are the party-of-No. There won’t even be the need to emphasize that people are dying due to lack of affordable insurance (which they are), the public won’t like the filibuster because there are plenty of other pressing matters for congress to act upon. Joe’s just posturing … or he’s stupid (probably been listening too much to McCain lately)

Not to mention to would be a filibuster to get people killed in the name of hollow, godless greed.

Most likely he doesn’t wanna sign on to the biggest financial disaster we have yet seen.

You mean the Iraq War?
Oh wait, you mean saving thousands of American lives that die every year from lack of care.
You disgusting monster.
I hope you get H1N1 and then lose your job and then have your insurance revoked.
then all of a sudden you’ll be “pro-reform”.
When you are getting screwed, you will change your tune.
just because of that, I wish that on you.

Eric, cut it out. If you can’t argue your point without name-calling or wishing harm on others who comment, perhaps you shouldn’t comment at all.

The senior senator from Israel never had a principal he wasn’t willing to sell to the highest bidder.

“Cause ya know you have to be Jewish to sell things, right Lefty?”
………………..
No, I just think he was more loyal to Hagee and the hawks (who could get votes for him), than to the Jewish people….
More loyal to Israel (no matter who is in power there) than to the American people….
More loyal to Joe Lieberman than the Democratic party….
AGAIN, more loyal to the far, far right wing than the Democratic party…..
THEN, more loyal to winners of the last election, (so he could keep his committee spots), than to those he campaigned for….
And NOW more loyal to the insurance companies than to positions of the party that allowed him to keep his chairmanship, even AFTER he campaigned against them.

I think you’re right, OldLefty. At first I thought Liebermann just wanted to be on the side that’s winning. Now I think he’s a more of a “what’s in it for me?” kind of guy.
I’m thinking the republicans are making him an offer he can’t refuse.

He reminds me of the character in the Lord of the Rings; Grima Wormtongue, kind of just slithering…
(and he sounds like Marvin the Martian from Looney Tunes.)

More loyal to Joe Lieberman than the Democratic party….
Ahh, hello!?!
Yes, he is more loyal to his principles and ideals than to the Democratic party. It was the Dems who said “ya know what ol’ Joe; we don’t need/want’cha”.
So, he ran on his name and won. Seems both he AND the people are more loyal to Joe than to the Democratic party.

“Yes, he is more loyal to his principles and ideals than to the Democratic party.”
……………………………
What principles?
Other than whatever the most most far ,far right wing hawks in Israel want, ( which is probably what he is jockeying for with this little stunt), I haven’t noticed any “principles”.
If he was so interested in his “principles, he should not of begged to keep his chairmanship and office.
As for; “Seems both he AND the people are more loyal to Joe than to the Democratic party.”
………………………
I thought the party that is always talking about term limits would respect a healthy system of primary challenges instead of loyalty to incumbents.
The incumbent Republican Whitehouse would not endorse the Republican, (9.6% of the vote), while Lamont got 39%, compared to Lieberman’s 49%……Not bad for a never before heard of challenger, who won the primary,( where the least informed people do not vote.) and lost to the guy with name recognition, beloved by the other party.

Oh, he’s serious.
But he is also a Republican GOP-shill.
And don’t forget it.

why does he feel this way?
