I am not going away with this.
After reading this piece, I did some checking up on “Rev.” James David Manning. Too many questions about his past to gloss over (http://thedevilanddanvojir.blogspot.com). His sole purpose in life seems more self aggrandizement than the role of firebrand preacher. While his website mentions Proctor and Gamble and Ford Motor Company as his former employers (in an executive position), it mentions these references only once and not in his “official” bio and is not mentioned in wikipedia.
Also: try working out the dates of his “conversion,” his prison sentences, his Master of Divinity degree and the time of his founding ATLAH. They don’t fit. Nothing fits in regards to both public and private life.
I think it’s time for the people of Harlem and of Manning’s congregation to launch a full-scale investigation into Manning and his fraudulent claims.

Well I must confess I don’t watch MSNBC in the morning either. However, if I’m not busy and awake I do find “America’s Newroom” quite amusing. Although they do cover neutral stories, as soon as a political story comes on, it’s a different ballgame. Even if the story itself is not one-sided (rare) the anchors will weigh in with snarky anti-Liberal or anti-Obama comments that make the show lapse into parody.
Their news coverage is currently about as mainstream as CBN.

It’s worth pointing out that Manning “got his religion in prison”.
It’s funny how often the prison religionists get all Bible thumper in lockup and then get all crazy when they get back out in the free world. For that matter, it’s funny how often religionists have serious issues in their backgrounds; prison, drunks, drug abusers, etc.
As an ex-con, Manning will no doubt already be aware of Rule #1 in the big house and the rule of most value for his return trip: never bend over in the prison shower to pick up the soap.

He’s also a black man living in a racist country with institutional barriers to entry that would not exist if his complexion were different. The thing people need to remember is that people like this selling salvation will say and do anything to get attention. They use all the hyperbole you could ever wish for.
