Shep Smith Explains How Insurance Companies Benefit With No Public Option

Fox News anchor Shepard Smith takes on Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY): “Every vote against the public option is a vote for the insurance companies.” Barrasso disagrees.

SMITH: Over the last ten years health care costs in America have skyrocketed. Regular folks cannot afford it. So, they tax the system by not getting preventative medicine. They go to the emergency room in the last case and we all wind up paying for it. As the costs have gone up, the insurance industry’s profits, on average, have gone up more than 350%. And it is the insurance companies which have …

Mazel Tov To Mel Gibson!

mel_gibson

His lawyer got his DUI dropped.

Judge Lawrence Mira just signed legal documents in Malibu, expunging the misdemeanor DUI from Mel’s record.

The judge noted the conviction still is relevant for “gun control purposes.” It can also be used as a prior conviction if Gibson gets popped for DUI in the future.

Mel’s lawyer, Blair Berk, requested the motion to dismiss on September 21 after Mel successfully completed the terms of his three-year probation.

So, it’s kinda like a legal version of Yom Kippur … he atoned for his sins and he gets a clean slate. …

Wisconsin Couple Who Prayed Instead Of Getting Daughter Care Get Probation And Jail

madeline_neumann

Dale and Leilani Neuman were sentenced to ten years probation and 30 days in jail a year for six years for praying instead of getting medical care for their 11-year old daughter.

They were convicted at separate trials of second-degree reckless homicide in Madeline Neumann’s March 2003 death from undiagnosed diabetes.

Prosecutors contended the parents should have rushed the girl to a hospital because she couldn’t walk, talk, eat or drink. Madeline died on the floor of the family’s rural home as people surrounded her and prayed. Someone called 911 when she stopped breathing.

The Neumanns say …

GOP: Put Nancy Pelosi “In Her Place”

Believing that we’re in the 19th Century, Ken Spain of the National Republican Campaign Committee said General Stanley McChrystal should put House Speaker Nancy Pelosi “in her place” for having the temerity to weigh in on Afghanistan. Pelosi told Charlie Rose that McChrystal’s advice to the president should “go up the chain of command,” and not be out there for public debate.

Mocking the first female speaker as “General Pelosi,” [Spain] wrote, “If Nancy Pelosi’s failed economic policies are any indicator of the effect she may have on Afghanistan, taxpayers can only hope McChrystal is able to …

Mr Colmes

I heard you on IMUS today defending Roman Polanski. I was astounded. Evidently you feel that if a person can escape imprisonment for a long enough period they should not be held accountable. He RAPED a 13 year old. Suppose it was your 13 year

old daughter? Don’t tell me the victim forgave him! A 13 year old does not have that power even when they become adults. We both agree that Polanski should not go to jail. You want him free. I would …

Southern Baptist Leader Richard Land: Obama And Democrats Doing “Exactly What The Nazis Did”

6548.img_0007.jpg.image

This time it’s by Richard Land, President of the Southern Baptist Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission.  RightWingWatch picked up on Land’s unfortunate invoking of Nazis to rail against Obama’s desire for health care reform.

President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders of Congress are advocating healthcare reform that will result in rationing of care, making them guilty of the same ideology that fueled the Nazi Holocaust, Richard Land told the Christian Coalition of Florida at a Sept. 26 banquet in Orlando.

“I want to put it to you bluntly. What they are attempting to do in healthcare, particularly in …

Conservatives Rewrite Bible To Take Out Liberal Parts

503180821_79b85601a3

The Conservative Bible Project exists to take out those pesky liberal passages from the Holy Book using these guidelines:

1. Framework against Liberal Bias: providing a strong framework that enables a thought-for-thought translation without corruption by liberal bias

2. Not Emasculated: avoiding unisex, “gender inclusive” language, and other modern emasculation of Christianity

3. Not Dumbed Down: not dumbing down the reading level, or diluting the intellectual force and logic of Christianity; the NIV is written at only the 7th grade level[3]

4. Utilize Powerful Conservative Terms: using powerful new conservative terms as they develop;[4] defective translations …

Bobby Jindal Endorses Democratic Health Care Reform

Jindal

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal outlines his prescription for “conservative” health care reform in a WaPo op-ed piece. Nice way to try to claim ideas that originated with President Obama and Democrats. And Karoli calls him on it.

So are Republicans going to rally around one of their presidential-hopeful governors?

Check it out.…

GOP Senate Candidate Compares Himself To GI’s Fighting Nazis

001-1217232054-Peter-Schiff

Peter Schiff, who was Ron Paul’s economic adviser, and is seeking a Chris Dodd’s U.S. Senate seat from Connecticut, says he’s making a great sacrifice by interrupting his career to serve.

I’m interrupting my career. It’s not like I want my new career in politics. But I’m willing to interrupt it the same way that somebody interrupted their career and joined World War II and went off to fight the Nazis. I don’t think that I’m that heroic, and I don’t think I’m risking as much as a soldier. But it’s the same principle

What a wonderful man, willing …

Is Obama Finally Focusing On The Gay Issue?

This Saturday, President Obama will become only the second sitting president to address a gay rights organization, the Human Rights Campaign. (Bill Clinton was the first, in 1997.)  This comes a day before thousands are expected to march on Washington to call for gay civil rights.

Many gay rights activists have become increasingly vocal about their frustration over what they see as tepid support from Mr. Obama. While the president has professed support for overturning the ban on gays in the military and called the law that precludes federal recognition of same-sex marriages discriminatory, he has not engaged on gay …
