Will This Video Determine The NJ Governor Race?

New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine’s campaign has unearthed a video of challenger Chris Christie showing how much he hearts George W. Bush. Bush appointed Christie US Attorney in New Jersey.

“Listen, I plead guilty to having raised money for Governor George W. Bush because I thought he was the best person to be President of the United States. And I did it in a completely appropriate fashion and enthusiastically for the President. And there’s no mystery to the fact that I was appointed to this job because, in part, I had a relationship with the President of the United …

Obama Administration Offers New Medical Marijuana Policy

j1

Unlike the Bush White House, the Obama administration won’t arrest medical marijuana users and suppliers as long as they conform to state laws.

The new policy is a significant departure from the Bush administration, which insisted it would continue to enforce federal anti-pot laws regardless of state codes.

Fourteen states allow some use of marijuana for medical purposes: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.…

Anti-Immigrant Republicans Would Run Up Cost Of Census

vitter

Republican Senators David Vitter (right) of Louisiana and Bob Bennett of Utah are offering an amendment to a spending bill that would bar funds from being used for the Census unless there is a question about a person’s citizenship status.  Maybe they feel this will prevent someone slipping into the country from Kenya who could one day run for president.

If successful, the change would force the Census Bureau to reprint more than 425 million questionnaires, as it had already started printing the forms in order to have them ready for distribution in early 2010. It would require software …

Balloon Dad’s Bizarre Stunts

richard_heene

Richard Heene has made some remarkable claims.

  • …he described for a national TV audience in March his belief that aliens are humanity’s ancestors…
  • …he told of once passing out in a fast-food restaurant and hearing aliens speak to him.
  • He boasted of his plans to build a flying saucer covered in aluminum foil and send it into a tornado.
  • He pulled his children around a hockey rink on a hovercraft-like device and took them on UFO-hunting expeditions.
  • Heene was always trying to get people to invest money in his storm-chasing exploits, including riding a motorcycle into the middle of …

John Kerry: More Troops To Afghanistan Would Be Irresponsible

Senator John Kerry, speaking from Kabul, says without reform efforts in place and some sense of what’s happening governmentally, more troops to Afghanistan at this point doesn’t make sense.

Kerry is not promoting sending more troops now. That would be irresponsible, he said, when Afghanistan’s election is not yet finished.

“I don’t see how President Obama can make a decision about the committing of our additional forces or even the further fulfillment of our mission that’s here today without an adequate government in place or knowledge about what that government’s going to be,” he said.

    Kerry taped …

    Balloon Family’s Story Didn’t Fly

Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden says criminal charges will be filed in the case of Balloon Dad. At the very least, the suggestion is that a false police report was filed. Dig the flag shirt on the sheriff.

    Balloon Dad Won’t Fly Away

And you don’t want him to, do you?  He tells the press to put all questions in a box and he’ll get to them later. And for a guy who loves the media glare so much, shouldn’t he at least get cable?

British Court Orders Release Of Documents Showing Torture By US

    15216865

Britain says it’s suppressing information to preserve its intelligence-gathering relationship with the United States, but a UK court says that information should be made public.

The document contains a seven-paragraph summary of the treatment that Binyam Mohamed (above) received in 2002 after being detained as a suspected terrorist. Mohamed, 31, a British resident, alleges that he was subjected to torture, including beatings and sexual mutilation, by interrogators in Pakistan and elsewhere with the full knowledge of American and British intelligence agents. The high court ruled that the secret synopsis, which had been blacked out in previous court filings, had …

    Obama And Dubya: Soulmates?

    ObamaBushAP_450x350

Jon Meacham of Newsweek, who is working on a biography of the elder Bush (41), says President Obama and his immediate predecessor have much in common. In fact, Meacham implies all presidents move toward the center amid the complexities of achieving the highest office, and that is the great equalizer.

There is a presidential character intrinsic to the office. Part of this is because what seemed black and white while you were running looks a lot grayer once ultimate power is yours, and part of it is that the country changes presidents more frequently than the country …
