Joe Wilson Blames Obama For Flu Vaccine Shortage; Voted Against Funding
Congressman Joe “You Lie” Wilson told the right-wing CNS News that the Obama administration is “solely responsible” for the vaccine shortage.
“The current administration is solely responsible. They can’t blame this on any prior administration,” said Wilson. “This is the responsibility of the current administration. They’ve put the lives of Americans at risk.”
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee shows that it was Wilson and other Republicans cast votes that got us to this point.
The DCCC pointed to a June vote on a supplementary appropriations bill as evidence. Wilson joined 95% of Republicans and voted against the bill, which contained special funding to combat H1N1 both domestically and internationally. But the bill also contained other much more money for other plans and programs Republicans at the time viewed as wasteful, including the Cash-For-Clunkers car purchase incentive program.
Still, the DCCC says that a vote against the bill essentially equaled a vote against combating H1N1 and means Republicans who voted against it like Wilson favored a public health program that would have resulted in even less vaccine than is available now.

good work Alan exposing this fraud for who he is! BTW did you notice that we finally have a surgeon general now that the GOP has stopped blocking the guy’s confirmation……um could it be that pressure from the Dems about the swine flu was the straw that broke the GOP’s back on that one? (we already know that in fact it was) :)

Oh, enough all ready, Joe Wilson! Like Obama created this new strain of influenza…not enough vaccines, oh well, they can have mine, I have no intention of getting this shot!
The press is once again, playing havoc with peoples emotions on this subject. People read and keep yourself informed.

Well Why not blame Obama for the Flu vaccine Shortage. The right wing wacko’s are blaming him for the recession and the war.

The wingnuts need to all get on the same page.
Just the other day, wingnuts (medical professionals in NY?) were refusing to take the Swine Flu vaccination because they didn’t want government telling them what to do or something. Now, the wingnuts are complaining because the vaccine isn’t coming along fast enough to suit them.
Geez, it’s almost like Obama can’t do anything to please these people.

Hmmm…what’s the point of this article Alan?
CFC (Cash for Clunkers) did come through.
Was it the same bill as the one Joe voted against?
If so, the vote against funding from Joe did NOT affect the funding (since the bill was passed): Am I making a mistake here?
If the funding wasnt affected by the vote, then what’s the point of drawing attention to which way Joe and other Republicans voted on this bill?

Of course, Joe was right by and large, on this issue, till he put his foot in his mouth, as he has a habit of doing:
“They’ve put the lives of Americans at risk”
Yeah, right, they caused the virus to get created, and they went around spreading it with their “socialist policies”.
And Alan of course has to respond at a similar level of childishness, bringing up the issue of “which way Joe voted”, as though it had any effect on the issue being discussed.

Of couse the left claiming that Pres. Bush knew about the 9-11 terrorist attacks before hand has to be true because because some liberal nutjobs said it was so.

And also the memo thingy:
“President Bush and his top advisers were informed by the CIA in early August 2001 that terrorists associated with Osama bin Laden had discussed the possibility of hijacking airplanes, according to reliable sources.”

So you’re trying to say that how a congressman votes does not matter unless he is in the majority? That’s nuts.
Every campaign against an incumbent looks to the voting record of the opponent to determine where they stand on the issues. They don’t ignore votes simply because they voted for it and it didn’t pass, or they voted against it and it did pass.

HFC: Am arguing Obama caused “American lives to go at risk” as much as Alan appears to have alleged that “Joe Wilson caused the same”.
Fact is,
1.the latter ran the RISK of causing that. And therefore hurt his own credibility for the future.
2.There is no evidence either way on whether Obama did anything to cause Joe’s allegation.
Bottomline, I was asking if it is prudent to respond to mudslinging with mudslinging.

I don’t see it as Alan ‘alleging that Joe Wilson caused the vaccine shortage’.
I see it as Alan pointing out the hypocrisy of Joe Wilson complaining of a vaccine shortage and blaming Obama, when his vote, if successful, would have made the shortage worse. How is that mudslinging?
Where was Wilson’s concern for ‘the lives of Americans’ when he was voting to kill the bill?

HFC,
when his vote, if successful, would have made the shortage worse. How is that mudslinging?
And how would this qualify as an educated statement? A “no” vote didn’t affect the dollar amount proposed or the production levels for the shot.
Let’s try using our brains a bit, shall we?
Where was Wilson’s concern for ‘the lives of Americans’ when he was voting to kill the bill?
What a ridiculous statement to make…he didn’t vote for a bill that was jammed packed with another gov’t spending spree…and all of a sudden, he doesn’t care about Americans???
Otherwise…I LOVE how both sides parse stuff like this to push their piece-meal ad hominem attacks. The H1N1 funding was jammed into a bill that included other issues, including the ridiculous cash-for-clunkers program (that has had absolutley ZERO long-term effects, by the way). Parsing out a “no” vote on any single item in the bill is just plain misrepresenting the facts…something that ALAN is notorious for doing.

my math might be a bit fuzzy at this hour, but if 95% of republicans voted against it, 5% still did, and it still would have passed due to the democrat majority….
this is also a good reason why I think massive appropriation bills are innapropriate.(and also the reason why I dismiss most accusations that so and so voted against whatever it is they are debating about) There is always something in there that someone really doesn’t like, so if they vote on their principle they end up voting against something else worthwhile.
It’s like that new movie, if you push the button you get a million dollars, but someone in the world dies.

H1N1 is another manufactured crisis this admin won’t let go to waste, and it’s all bvllsh1t. A hundred times more people die from the seasonal flu than H1N1 – every year.
Where’s that crisis?
Funding, schmunding. Flu shots are a scam. I have no intention of getting one.

I think this brings up another issue besides Joe “You Lie” Wilsons vote. That is how Bills are presented on the floor…so complex and multi-faceted that you can be for three of the issues it promotes and against five of the other issues it proposes. How about a line-item veto for Congress-critters in their voting on bills?
I know that would never be but I’m just trying to point out the complexity and problems of the way our laws are made.

I am reminded of the late 70’s. I was in the service and we were ordered to get the swine flu shot of that era. They stopped it after a time. Something about seizures. No side effects that I know of..except my urge to have sex in the mud, and I actually did become a cop after I retired from the service

I’ve heard all kinds of horror stories about side effects from vaccines…some of which I know are total bullcrap, but it’s always kind of scary when the government starts pushing a medicine that may or may not have been properly tested on mass populations.

Joe Wilson was against vaccinations before he was for them.
Fancy that!
All is took was an election to tun him around…
