On Tuesday’s Radio Show…
• Political Analyst Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics joins Alan to analyze the results of today’s elections.
• Are Republican victories at the polls a referendum on President Obama? We’ll debate it.
• Travel guru Rick Steves, author of Travel as a Political Act, explains why he believes America needs to join European countries in decriminalizing drugs.

I am in Virginia and it looks like McDonnell is going to cruise to an easy victory for governor. This does not signal much of a shift in Virginia because in off years, Virginia ALWAYS elects a governor opposite that of whomever just won the White House.
His margin of victory should be of concern to Democrats, as well as the fact that Creigh Deeds ran a poor campaign that never caught fire.
It is a shame, because he is a remarkably nice guy.
The McDonnell campaign did not use the smear-and-fear tactics the teabagger-types enjoy so much. I was at the polls in Caroline County today and the far right fringe was out and it was like a Klan rally, they were so venomous….

Burqa: “… the far right fringe was out and it was like a Klan rally, they were so venomous…”
Yeah, I expect nothing more from those types, anymore.

Updates to your earlier posting. The wingnuts tried to get their Roeder auctions past eBay, but they couldn’t …

An online auction to raise money for the Kansas City man charged with killing a Wichita abortion doctor was short-lived.
EBay took down most of the auction items Monday within hours of the listings being posted.
“They said we had violated their rules,” said Regina Dinwiddie, one of the auction organizers. “This is egregious censorship with pro-abortion bias.”

Ms. Dinwiddie hasn’t got her wits together enough to realize it was really an anti-violence bias.
A good bias to have, that one.

I don’t think today’s elections are a referendum on Obama.
Maines gay marriage vote will tell about a Northeast states homophobic condition.
New Jersey’ governors race is about the incumbent.
Virginias governors race is over and was predictable because the Democrats had a very weak candidate.
NY-23 has been Republican for over a 100 years so if they can’t hold it that will say something. Specifically what it will say is: we don’t like outsiders coming in and trying to tell us what to do”.

Well stated, Budda; I think you nailed it!

We can only hope that expected wins in New York and Va. will encourage the Taliban wing of the GOP and keep them on the fringe…

That IS the bright side, Burqa, lol.

I agree. Despite the hammering they have gotten for years now, they have not figured out that fear-and-smear doesn’t work any more.
They have lost all sense of discretion – - notice how they think there was nothing wrong with Joe Wilson’s outburst and the way they behave at teabaggings.
They don’t understand they are egged on by right-wing media types because they seek ratings and controversy brings in the viewers and listeners.
The rank-and-file think they are just behaving the way they always do and that’s why they act like dolts such as LeFin (I do a pretty good imitation of Mark leFin and one day will call in doing it).
In Va., McDonnell did not run the usual fear-and-smear sort of campaign, by the way…

Nearly all of Colmes’ nightly callers are southern, redneck, conservative, name-callers convinced Obama is a socialist and Colmes is a dummy/moron.
I continue to be amazed Colmes is so popular with people who hate him.

I hope the Colmes callers aren’t a representative sampling of the American public. Good god, I hope not.

They are Rush/Hannity listners who can’t get in the

As a result they take their frustation on poor Alan.

Alan needs them, it makes for an interesting show! I can hear you guys commenting on some of the callers. Not that I’ve ever heard it! The show I mean.

Do you object to name-calling?
Some of the Southern callers are rednecks and so are some of those from outside Dixie.
I am from the Deep South, call fairly regularly, and am not a redneck or conservative, but I will call names from time to time.
Bob the Trucker, for example, is conservative, but is not a redneck, he’s a good-old boy, and there is a difference.

I’ve never heard this “Bob the Trucker” caller. Are you referencing the regular Colmes’ PAL “John the Trucker”?
“John the Trucker” is one of “them”. The mid-South accent. Always calling in to blather about “queers” and “panty-waists” and remind the nation he “carries”.

Yeah, sorry. I got him confused with Bob from Las Vegas.
John the Trucker is not really a bad guy.
I can tell, he says stuff to bait people but is not really a bad guy. I disagree with his political views, but could easily split a bottle of Wild Turkey with him…..

Hehe, what in retardation is a “little chubby riggered fricken frick”? Sounds like some kind of southern chicken fricasse. Either way, it sort of sound yummy!?
