9/11 Defendants To Plead Not Guilty So As To Critique US Foreign Policy

The five men who will stand trial in New York, charged with the 9/11 attacks, will plead not guilty, but won’t deny their involvement. Attorney Scott Fenstermaker, who is representing accused terrorist Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali (right), says the men want to “explain what happened and why they did it.”

Ali, also known as Ammar al-Baluchi, is a nephew of professed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Mohammed, Ali and the others will explain “their assessment of American foreign policy,” Fenstermaker said.

“Their assessment is negative,” he said.

Patrick Kennedy Asked By Providence Bishop Not To Take Communion

Catholic Bishop Thomas Tobin asked Congressman Patrick Kennedy not to take Communion because Kennedy opposes the church’s stance against health care reform without tighter restrictions on abortion.

The bishop’s attempt to publicly shame Kennedy comes just a few months after the death of his father, Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts. Tobin told The Associated Press in an interview Sunday that he’s praying for the younger Kennedy, who has been in and out of treatment for substance abuse, and said Kennedy has been acting “erratically.”

Besides covering 31 million Americans who don’t have medical insurance, the health care reform bill would “extend coverage to roughly 31 million who lack it, crack down on insurance company practices that deny or dilute benefits and curtail the growth of spending on medical care nationally.”  Who wants to be the party, political or otherwise, who opposes this?  Most controversial will be the public option and the requirement that people carry insurance.

Blanche Lincoln To Vote “Yes” On Senate Health Care Bill; Dems Have 60 Votes

Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln says she’ll vote with the rest of the Democrats to proceed to full-scale debate on the Senate version of the health care bill, which will begin soon after Thanksgiving.

She said it was important that the Senate begin debate on a critical issue.

The centrist Democrat was the lone holdout. Facing unanimous Republican opposition, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid needed the 58 Democrats and two independents to vote to move forward on the sweeping bill to remake the nation’s health care system.

Colorado Billboard Paints Obama As Muslim Jihadist

Phil West, the owner of a car dealership in Wheat Ridge, CO, says he put up this billboard because, “Since Fort Hood, I’ve had it. You can’t suggest things; you can’t profile; you gotta call a spade a spade.”

The billboard, located at 4855 Miller Road, shows two cartoonish images of Obama wearing a Muslim turban and reads “PRESIDENT or JIHAD?”

Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu’s decision to support the next big vote on the Senate health care bill puts the number of supporters at 59, one shy of the magic number 60 needed to allow it to go forward.  The remaining holdout is Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln (pictured).

A new billboard off of Interstate 70 in Missouri provides a short “citizens guide to REVOLUTION of a corrupt government” and issues a call to “PREPARE FOR WAR.”
