WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — The index of leading economic indicators rose for the eight straight month, pointing to an improved economy in 2010, the private Conference Board said Thursday. The index increased 0.9% in November after a 0.3% gain in October, the research group said. Six of the 10 leading indicators were positive. For the first time since December 2007, employment did not make a negative contribution to the index, potentially a good sign for future job growth, the board said.
