In a classy move, the New York Post is polling which Tiger Woods mistress you like best on its Facebook page. When you get to the actual paper itself, you also get to vote for wife Elin Nordegen.  Would have been nice if they included the wife in the Facebook tease, no?…

Sarah Palin’s Smartest Move

It was savvy of Sarah Palin and her handlers to have her show up on “The Tonight Show” to give it back to William Shatner.  Shatner, mocking his own years-ago rendition of “Rocketman”, has previously been on Conan’s show with dramatic presentations from a Palin speech and Tweets originally believed to come from Levi Johnston.  After interpreting selections from Palin’s new book, Palin, herself, bounded onto the stage to read from Shatner’s autobiography.

Tea Partiers Set To Divide GOP; Expect More Democratic Victories

aliceteapartysmall-1

With a recent poll showing that if the Tea Party movement were an actual party it would have more support than Republicans, the movement is energized, ready to apply purity tests, and poised to divide the Republican Party.  Buoyed by derailing a mainstream Republican in New York’s 23rd Congressional district (which put a Democrat in office), they plan to challenge Democrats in 2010, of course, but also Republicans who they deem too liberal.

Their targets include Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina in California and GOP Governor Charlie Crist in in Florida.  Even among tea party groups, there is …

Anti-Gay Bigotry Rears Its Ugly Head In Houston Mayoral Race

Houston City Controller Annise Parker (r) stands to become the first openly gay mayor of Houston in her battle against former city attorney Gene Locke.  Anti-gay activists and conservative religious groups have been circulating material condemning Parker’s “homosexual behavior.”

Locke, who would become the city’s second black mayor if elected, has been trying to distance himself from the anti-gay attacks while courting conservative voters who could tip the race in his favor.

Although Locke has condemned the divisive rhetoric, two of his key supporters contributed money to a conservative political action committee that sent out an anti-gay mailer earlier …

Boehner Attacks White House; White House Strikes Back; Says GOP “Rooting Against” Recovery

john_boehner

House Minority Leader John Boehner’s op-ed in the Washington Post claims the stimulus “isn’t working” and that the president’s policies are “scaring people.”  The White House isn’t staying silent.

Firing back after a scathing attack by House Minority Leader John Boehner in the Washington Post’s opinion pages, White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer called the Republican criticism “odd” and staunchly defended the Democratic president’s policies.

“The president has always said there is an open door for good ideas, and when Congressman Boehner and Republicans in Congress are interested in being a part of a conversation about how …

On Human Rights Day, Advice To The President On Darfur From Angelina Jolie

angelina-jolie-hunts-for-apartment-in-new-york

Angeline Jolie, in honor of Human Rights Day, offers her take on Darfur in Newsweek with some questions for President Obama.

The Obama administration recently unveiled its new policy of engagement with Sudan, aimed first at securing the full implementation of the treaty that ended the north-south Sudanese civil war. While the administration maintained it will not deal with al-Bashir or any other official charged with arrest, it has not yet announced any serious moves to enforce the decision of the ICC and execute its warrants.

Jolie says she supports diplomatic initiatives, but still has some concerns.

How is …

Palin Denies Her Previous Stance On Climate Change

Responding to Al Gore’s comments on her ill-informed Washington Post op-ed, Sarah Palin, on her Facebook page, denied she’s a denier.

Gore said:

“The deniers are persisting in an era of unreality. The entire North Polar ice cap is disappearing before our eyes,” Gore said. “What do they think is happening?”

“It’s a principle in physics,” Gore said of climate change. “It’s like gravity, it exists.

Palin responded:

…he’s wrong in calling me a ‘denier.’ As I noted in my op-ed above and in my original Facebook post on Climategate, I have never denied …

GOP CA Councilman Wears Sign Equating Pelosi With Stalin

DSCF0706-450x337

At a GOP-organized protest of the Orange County Democrats’ Harry Truman Awards where Nancy Pelosi was the guest speaker, Irvine Councilman Stephen Choi paraded around with a sign on his back likening Pelosi to Josef Stalin. It’s one thing for tea party nutballs to compare Democrats to Hitler and Stalin, but it’s quite unusual for an elected official to do it.

An OC Register photographer caught Choi roaming the Hilton lobby before Pelosi’s address. Choi is seen in a suit, tie and a depiction of Pelosi as Joseph Stalin, the Soviet dictator who killed millions under his Great …
