Trouble In Tea Party Paradise

So, is this a grass-roots movement operated by independent groups, liberty-minded Americans who want to “take their country back”? Or is it a scummy, for-profit venture to line pockets? Anyone can decide it’s Tea Party time.…

Nothing like using a devastating tragedy as an excuse to pull out the race card.
Limbaugh: “This will play right into Obama’s hands…they’ll use this to burnish they’re, uh, shall we say, credibility with the black community, both the light-skinned and black community in the country. That’s why he couldn’t wait to get out there; could not wait to get out there.”
So let me get this straight: when Obama doesn’t respond quickly enough to a crisis, he’s a dawdler, and when he does, it’s for a racially- charged ulterior motive.…

When Massachusetts US Senate candidate Martha Coakley says she’s being hounded by GOP stalkers, she’s referring to an incident where John McCormack of the conservative Weekly Standard conducted aggressive questioning. McCormack says Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee staffer Michael Meehan owes him a pair of pants for pushing him to the ground after Coakley refused to answer a question, and as he trailed her down a Washington street trying to ask another question.
After Coakley finished her answer, she began walking away from the restaurant, and I walked behind her asking why health care industry lobbyists were supporting her at the …

Televangelist Pat Robertson says the earthquake in Haiti is payback from a deal with the Devil. (h/t The Political Carnival)
Robertson: Something happened a long time ago in Haiti, and people may not want to talk about it. They were under the heel of the French–you know, Napoleon III, and whatever–and they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, “We will serve you if you get us free from the French.” True story. And so the Devil said, “Okay, it’s a deal.”…But ever since they have been cursed by one thing after the other……

Somebody thought it would be a great idea to honor Martin Luther King by offering a lunch of southern friend chicken and collard greens. Now the Denver Public Schools is apologizing for what it calls “a well-intentioned but highly insensitive” attempt to celebrate Martin Luther King Day.
In a statement issued Tuesday night and posted on the school district’s website, DPS spokesman Michael Vaughn said the meal was “highly insensitive in light of certain hurtful cultural stereotypes still harbored in parts of our society.”
“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the greatest leaders and civil rights heroes in …

Movie tough guy and conspiracy theorist Chuck Norris is claiming that because President Obama signed an executive order exempting Interpol from search and seizure, he is purposely hiding information about the war on terror from the American public, that he “has got the backs of those who are attacking our country, abandoning our Constitution and dissolving America’s sovereignty.”
(…The group is…an international organization of police agencies whose purpose is to share information: it maintains master databases—of stolen passports, for example—and posts “red notices” of criminal suspects, including terrorists, drug traffickers, and child pornographers, who are wanted by law-enforcement officials in …

Tea partiers aren’t all getting along. Some of them are aghast at a tea party convention that they feel is too tied to the GOP, costs too much ($549 a head), and doesn’t represent the grass roots.
Tea Party Patriots, which helped put together a September rally that drew tens of thousands to Washington, view the confab — which is being held at Nashville’s swank Opryland Gaylord hotel — as the “usurpation of a grassroots movement,” according to Mark Meckler, a leader of the group.
Now, even Erick Erickson (pictured) of Red State, who has not always made the most …
