Former US Rep. Charlie Wilson Dead At 76

CharlieWilson

Former Texas Representative Charlie Wilson, a 2007 heart transplant recipient, died of a heart attack.

Wilson, known as the “Liberal from Lufkin,” represented the 2nd District from 1972 to 1996. He became known as “Goodtime Charlie” because of his lifestyle, but was known locally for helping bring a Veterans Administration clinic to Lufkin and helping establish the Big Thicket National Preserve, KTRE reported.

“Charlie loved this nation and had deep respect and gratitude for the men and women who defended her; he was a force for Veterans his entire career. Throughout his life, this was evident in his thoughts, …

66593

The National Enquirer, which broke the John Edwards scandal in the first place, says Edwards has asked his mistress and the mother of his child to marry him.

John Edwards has proposed to his mistress Rielle Hunter, and is buying a luxury $3.5 million beachfront home where they can live happily ever after with their love child, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.

The disgraced presidential candidate popped the question at the same time he told Rielle that he’d be issuing a press statement finally confirming he fathered her daughter Frances Quinn, close sources told The ENQUIRER.

The Manhattan Declaration: A “Christian” Manifesto Comparing Liberals To Nazis

chuck-colson-manhattan-declaration

The Manhattan Declaration, self-described as “a call to Christian conscience,” released last year and looking to reach 1 million signatures, accuses liberals of being eugenicists, ie: Nazis. It is gathering signatures of religious right leaders and urging them to disregard the law.

The document, signed by such religious-right heavy-hitters as Focus on the Family eminence James Dobson and Prison Fellowship Ministries leader Chuck Colson (pictured), compares pro-choice advocates to eugenicists (and implicitly to Nazis) and equates same-sex marriage with polygamy and a gateway to legalized incest. Its authors promise to defy any law that does not comport …

Taxpayers Out $2.33 Billion Because Of Citigroup TARP Investment

citigroup-eco

According to an SEC filing, the entire TARP investment in Citigroup, $2.33 billion, will not be paid back.

The Treasury made the investment in CIT in December 2008, but CIT later ran into trouble after the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. refused to guarantee its debt, as the FDIC did for larger lenders, including General Electric (GE) and large banks like Citigroup (C), Bank of America (BAC) and Wells Fargo (WFC). CIT filed for bankruptcy protection on Nov. 1, reorganizing and returning to a public listing on Dec. 10.

CIT Group is the largest loss on record under …

Former Bush Speechwriter Thiessen: Obama Killing Too Many Terrorists

thiessen1

Former Bush 43 speechwriter Mark Thiessen, who once said if we’re ever attacked again it’s Obama’s fault and that he’s “the most dangerous man to ever occupy the Oval Office,” now says Obama is killing too many terrorists. See, we need more alive terrorists so we can torture them and get information out of them. Having them dead does no good, and Obama is killing them all. Jason Linkins at Huffpost put it well when he characterized Thiessen’s position being that “killing terrorists is a national security risk.”

Today, the Obama administration is no longer attempting to capture …

On Tuesday’s Radio Show…

• GOP lawmakers have said they want “bipartisanship” on health care reform, but do they really mean it? Alan questions their sincerity.

• Alan debates Vision America’s Rick Scarborough, who told the Tea Party Convention that if more Hispanics enter our country, it will cease to be America.

• Another Republican double-standard? You betcha!

How Romantic

Obama Valentine

Never missing an opportunity to take potshots at Democrats, the Republican National Committee is inviting right-wing Romeos and Juliets to send their sweethearts “GOP Valentine’s E-Cards” mocking President Obama and his party.…

Will The GOP Still Be “The Party Of No” On A Jobs Bill?

jobs

There is hope (and change) if the two parties can come together to create jobs. It’s a good move for Democrats, because how are Republicans going to be “The Party of No” on a jobs bill? But that won’t stop them from trying.

The Democrats’ agenda includes: renewing existing highway legislation for a year, which is expected to result in 1 million jobs, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said. Also, enacting small business and job creation tax credits — and extending Build America Bonds, a stimulus measure that helps states and municipalities fund capital construction projects.

So far, there’s …

Republicans Balk At Bipartisanship (UPDATED)

2009_0326_Getty_Eric_Cantor_0

In spite of the whining on the right that the president hasn’t included them in the health care reform process (even though 161 Republican amendments were passed), House Minority Whip Eric Cantor says there’s “not much to talk about” unless the Democrats scrap their plans.

After going it alone on health care reform for nearly a year, President Obama has decided he wants to bring Republicans into the conversation. Here’s the problem: unless the President and Speaker Pelosi are willing to scrap their government take over and hit the reset button, there’s not much to talk about.

And …

rick-perry-and-sarah-palin-rally-their-troops.4411024.36

Sarah Palin showed up to help Texas Governor Rick Perry campaign for reelection. Some of the signs indicated some spelling issues. And this one isn’t a good advertisement for homeschooling (although it is for “homescholing”):
