Congressman Jack Murtha Dead At 77

Congressman Jack Murtha died after complications from gall bladder surgery.

Murtha enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1952 and became a drill instructor at Parris Island. He served in Korea and received a Bronze Star and Two Purple Hearts for his service in Vietnam. He continued to be a member of the Marine Corps Reserves until he resigned as a colonel in 1990.

Alabama Senator Richard Shelby is holding up every pending Obama nomination until he can get some goodies for his home state. Some of the unfilled jobs are for important national security positions.

Armani’s gay Valentine’s Day ads are upsetting at least one group: OneMillionMoms.com. (via Mediaite).

[The ad features] a gay male couple, a heterosexual couple, and lesbian couple – oiled up and lustfully embracing. And while half naked couples in major advertising campaigns are nothing new, the homoerotic ads have been causing quite a stir. One online mothers support group (OneMillionMoms.com) is demanding the store take the ads down, claiming that the ads “poison children with 10-foot posters that are nothing but soft porn.”

Calling the keynote tea party speech by Sarah Palin “seductive untruth,” Deepak Chopra succinctly defines the difference between what is being offered in the name of “populism” and what is truly needed to heal our nation.  Palin injects fear into an already angry and frightened populace with jingoistic calls for war, and questions the commander-in-chief’s ability to deal with terrorists because of applying Constitutional rights to the underwear bomber.
