Tandredo Sets Tone For Tea Party Convention: People Who Can’t Speak English Put Socialist In White House

Former Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo set the tone for the expensive tea party convention in Nashville by mocking those who don’t speak English and complaining about “the cult of multiculturalism.”

“People who could not spell the word vote or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House — name is Barack Hussein Obama,” Tancredo told the audience. “The revolution has come. It was led by the cult of multiculturalism aided by leftist liberals all over who don’t have the same ideas about America as we do.”

Tancredo also said he wouldn’t have been able to …

Unemployment Dips To 9.7%; Recession Cost 8.4 Million Jobs

New numbers show unemployment down from 10% to 9.7%. And there is still a long way to go.

That may seem like good news, now that the unemployment rate is below 10 percent for the first time in months. But, as The Associated Press reports, the Labor Department still “says the Great Recession has eliminated 8.4 million jobs. That’s the most of any recession since World War II as a proportion of total payrolls.”

The Times’s Javier Hernandez writes that, the newest numbers notwithstanding, there is still concern that economic recovery “would be slow to come.”

“As the broader …

Emails Reveal Todd Palin’s Hidden Role In Gov’t; Efforts To Disguise Use Of State Resources

100204-palin1-hmed-1p.hmedium

Newly-released emails obtained by NBC reveal a much larger role in running the government of Alaska for Todd Palin than was known publicly.

…the governor’s husband got involved in a judicial appointment, monitored contract negotiations with public employee unions, received background checks on a corporate CEO, added his approval or disapproval to state board appointments and passed financial information marked “confidential” from his oil company employer to a state attorney.

Twelve hundred e-mails were released and 243 withheld with the claim that executive privilege applies to Todd Palin as an unpaid adviser.  Subject lines in these emails, however, tell a …

The New Ketchup Packet: You Can Either Squeeze Or Dip!

Heinz Ketchup

Heinz has invented a new way to consume ketchup, allowing the option to use those packets in more than one way. You can squeeze out the ketchup as always, or you can dip your fries into the ketchup.

Heinz struggled for years to develop a container that lets diners dip or squeeze, and to produce it at a cost acceptable to its restaurant customers.

“The packet has long been the bane of our consumers,” said Dave Ciesinski, vice president of Heinz Ketchup. “The biggest complaint is there is no way to dip and eat it on-the-go.”

Designers found that …

Palin Camp Firing Back At WaPo For Suggesting Conflict With Limbaugh

Sarah Palin’s spokesperson, Meg Stapleton, is reacting to the Plum Line report that the former governor took a shot at Rush Limbaugh over his use of the “r” word.

Sarah Palin spokesperson Meg Stapleton told Fox, “The Washington Post is trying hard to take the pressure off the White House by creating a side controversy, but it is missing the point: as the Governor has said, it doesn’t matter who says the “r” word: it should no longer be part of our lexicon.”

Limbaugh used the “r” word repeatedly during his daily radio show yesterday. When the Palin camp was …

Wing War: Palin Attacks Limbaugh For Using “R” Word, But Doesn’t Ask For Him To Be Fired

Sarah Palin, who called for White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel to be fired for calling liberal activists “f-ing retards,” is rebuking Rush Limbaugh for using the word as well.

“Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult’s taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards,” Rush said, adding that Rahm’s meeting yesterday with advocates for the mentally handicapped was a “retard summit at the White House.”

Palin’s spokesperson, Meghan Stapleton, told Greg Sargent at Plumline: “Governor Palin believes crude and demeaning name calling at the expense of others is disrespectful.”  Limbaugh had …

The “R” Word Coming Back To Haunt Republicans

A firestorm erupted when Sarah Palin said Rahm Emanuel should be fired for saying liberal activists are “f-ing retarded.”  The problem with a black-and-white politically-driven view is that it bites back.  In the Connecticut Senate race, Republican hopeful Linda McMahon is going to have to answer for how her company, WWE, created a character, Eugene (named because of “eugenics and played by Nicholas Dinsmore), portrayed as the mentally handicapped nephew of the RAW general manager. Rob Simmons, McMahon’s opponent, is planning to call her on it.

When he was introduced in 2004, according to press reports at the time, …

Here’s what rock star Ted Nugent said to Royal Flush Magazine: (h/t TPC)

Retired Navy Captain Tells Of Secret Life Under “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell”

tzleft.joan_.darrah.courtesy

Joan E. Darrah served as a Navy intelligence officer for almost 30 years. She is the recipient of several wards including three Legion of Merits, three Meritorious Medals and the Navy Achievement Medal.  She’s been with her partner, Lynn Kennedy, for 19 years.

For most of my career in the Navy, I lived two lives and went to work each day wondering if that would be my last. Whenever the admiral would call me to his office, 99.9 percent of me was certain that it was to discuss an operational issue. But there was always that fear in the back …

Why The President Was Asked Not To Attend The National Prayer Breakfast

An ethical watchdog group, Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington, asked the president and congressional leaders to stay away from the annual National Prayer Breakfast.

The objections are focused on the sponsor of the breakfast, a secretive evangelical Christian network called The Fellowship, also known as The Family, and accusations that it has ties to legislation in Uganda that calls for the imprisonment and execution of homosexuals.

The Family has always stayed intentionally in the background, according to those who have written about it. In the last year, however, it was identified as the sponsor of a residence …
