Woman Live Tweets Her Abortion

Angie Jackson wants other women know, “It’s not that bad…this nothing compared to childbirth,  compared to labor…to late stage pregnancy.  This is about choice.”

Last Thursday, Jackson visited a Planned Parenthood where her doctor gave her the first dose of RU-486, the abortion pill. (Note: The abortion pill is not the same as the morning-after pill.) She had to take four more pills — swallowing two and letting two others dissolve in her mouth—on Friday and Saturday.

She hasn’t taken to her various media platforms to show the graphic parts of her abortion. Instead, Jackson is chronicling how her …

Utah Bill Criminalizes Miscarriages

pregnantbelly

The Utah House and Senate passed a bill that could make it a crime for a woman to have a miscarriage.

The bill amends Utah’s criminal statute to allow the state go charge a woman with criminal homicide for inducing a miscarriage or obtaining an illegal abortion. The case on which the bill was based was one in which a 17-year-old girl who was seven months pregnant paid a man $150 to beat her in an attempt to cause a miscarriage. (She gave birth, but was originally charged with attempted murder)

The bill does not affect legally obtained …

3126920

The mother of a Montgomery County, MD, middle school student is demanding an apology from a teacher who called school police to escort her daughter out of class for refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance. The 13-year-old girl was mocked by other students and is too traumatized to return to class.

A school spokesman said Tuesday that the teacher’s actions were a clear violation of the school’s regulations, which are based on state law. The teacher, who also has not been identified by either side, will have to apologize to the student, spokesman Dana Tofig said.

The ACLU sent

Miss Beverly Hills Lauren Ashley Says Bible Calls For Death To Gays

ashley640_doomsday_604x341

Lauren Ashley is representing Beverly Hills in the Miss California pageant, and she makes Carrie Prejean sound like Truman Capote.  Ashley defends her position by quoting the Bible.

“The Bible says that marriage is between a man and a woman. In Leviticus it says, ‘If man lies with mankind as he would lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death and their blood shall be upon them.’ The Bible is pretty black and white,” Ashley told Pop Tarts.

“I feel like God himself created mankind and he loves everyone, and …

Jeb Bush: Sarah Palin Needs To Develop Intellectual Curiosity

jeb_bush-cropped-proto-custom_2

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, interviewed by right-wing website Newsmax.com, was asked if he thinks Sarah Palin is a viable presidential candidate.

He said that Palin’s success depends on her willingness to add a “depth of understanding of the complexity of life we’re living in today” to her rhetoric.

“That’s up to her,” he said. “I mean, I don’t know what her deal is, but my belief is in 2010 and 2012, public leaders need to have intellectual curiosity.”…

Bernie Sanders: Those Who Deny Climate Change Like Those Who Denied Nazism

image692659x

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders says climate change skeptics remind him of those who denied the growing threat of Nazism and fascism in the 1920′s and 1930′s.

The climate change debate “reminds me in some ways of the debate taking place in this country and around the world in the late 1930s,” Sanders said during a Senate hearing on the Environmental Protection Agency’s 2011 budget…

He continued: “And during that period with Nazism and fascism growing — a real danger to the United States and Democratic countries all over the world — there were people in this Congress, in the British …

Americans Are Blaming Republicans For Lack Of Cooperation

A CNN/Opinion Research Corp poll shows that two-thirds of Americans believe Republicans are not cooperating sufficiently with President Obama.  But they think Democrats need to be pro-active in getting the GOP to cooperate.

Sixty-seven percent of respondents say the GOP is not doing enough to cooperate with the White House, up 6 points from last April.

Americans appear split on whether the president is doing enough to reach out to Republicans, with 52 percent saying Obama is not doing enough to cooperate with the GOP, while 47 percent say he is doing enough to reach across the political aisle.

Because …

100223_lead1_ap_218

According to Mike Allen at Politico, President Obama’s advisers are laying the groundwork for his 2012 reelection campaign, which is likely to be run out of Chicago with deputy chief of staff Jim Messina (pictured left, with Obama and senior adviser David Axlerod) as campaign manager.

The planning for now consists entirely of private conversations, with Obama aides at all levels indulging occasionally in closed-door 2012 discussions while focusing ferociously on the midterm elections and health care reform, the Democratic sources said. “The gathering storm is the 2010 elections,” one top official said.

The Democratic National Committee recognizes that …

AveQ

The AP reports:

Puppet cleavage has been ruled out for advertising posters in Colorado Springs bus shelters.
