Breitbart At CPAC Tells MSM “You’re Not On The American Team, You’re On The Progressive Team”

The liberal-bashing CPAC conference featured progressivism being referred to as a cancer, the death of Warren Harding as “divine providence,” and Newt Gingrich saying, “The radical left is a secular, socialist machine” that will destroy America.  And a whining, angry Andrew Breitbart lashing out at the “mainstream media,” calling it un-American.

Newsweek Poll Confirms White House And Democrats Bungled Selling Of Health Care Reform

A NEWSWEEK poll shows that there is much opposition to Obama’s plan for health care reform — until the respondents are asked about specific proposals, in which case they respond favorably.

When asked about Obama’s plan (without being given any details about what the legislation includes), 49 percent opposed it and 40 percent were in favor. But after hearing key features of the legislation described, 48 percent supported the plan and 43 percent remained opposed.

The NEWSWEEK Poll asked respondents about eight health-care-reform provisions that Obama and many Democrats in Congress have generally supported. It found that the majority of …

Joseph Stack’s Daughter Calls Her Dad “A Hero” (UPDATED)

amd_mug_joe-stack

Samantha Bell, the daughter of the pilot who burned down his house and then flew a plane into a federal building targeting IRS employees, calls her dad “a hero.”

“I think too many people lay around and wait for things to happen. But if nobody comes out and speaks up on behalf of injustice, then nothing will ever be accomplished,” Samantha Bell, Joseph Stack’s daughter from his first marriage, told “Good Morning America” in a phone interview that aired Monday morning.

Vernon Hunter, a 61-year-old IRS collections agent and Vietnam veteran, was killed by Stack’s actions.

Even so, his daughter …

Obama Offers Health Care Compromise In Advance Of Thursday’s Summit

ObamaHealthCare

President Obama offered a detailed health care plan today based on the Senate bill, but with concessions to the House plan.  White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer calls it an “opening bid.”

  • The proposal would provide more money to help cash-strapped states pay for Medicaid over the next four years and eliminate the unpopular “donut hole” coverage gap in the Medicare prescription drug program.
  • Mr. Obama would eliminate a controversial special deal for Nebraska — widely derided by Republicans as the “cornhusker kickback” — that called for the federal government to pay the full cost of a Medicaid expansion for …

Global Warming To Bring Fewer, But Stronger, Hurricanes

    tropical-cyclone

A World Meteorological Association panel, including Chris Landsea of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, predicts we’ll have fewer tropical cyclones (the technical term), going forward, but they’ll be more severe.

The study offers projections for tropical cyclones worldwide by the end of this century, and some experts said the bad news outweighs the good. Overall strength of storms as measured in wind speed would rise by 2 to 11 percent, but there would be between 6 and 34 percent fewer storms in number. Essentially, there would be fewer weak and moderate storms and more of the big damaging ones, …

Arnold: Tea Party Movement “Not Going Anywhere”

You have to wonder if the ideologues who shoved Gray Davis out of office so they could get a Republican governor in California are all that happy with the non-partisan reign of Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Asked by Terry Moran on “This Week” about the Republican party, Schwarzenegger agreed that they’re the party of “no,” and didn’t kowtow to tea partiers like many other Republicans.

“The Tea Party is not going to go anywhere,” Schwarzenegger told Moran. “I think the Tea Party is all about just an expression of anger and dissatisfaction.”

Anti-Beck Tweeter Gets Slurs And Death Threats

    Tweet+Beck+death+threat+Stop+Beck

Laffy at The Political Carnival is chronicling the saga of @stopbeck, whose outspoken opposition to Glenn Beck had engendered hatred by ardent Beck defender @vatopdog.

While @vatopdog claims in his profile to want “more freedom, less government…”, apparently that freedom isn’t supposed to extend to to those with a different point of view. And get a load of the anti-liberal vitriol of @dem_apples.  Hard for these “patriots” to live in a country where so many have points of view that are not conservative.…

David Petraeus Says Troops May Not Care If Fellow Solders Are Gay

    ff6bd9ac-9ada-414f-ac9e-47eb6e3b9977-small

General David Petraeus, the US commander in charge of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, says he’s served alongside gays and lesbians and it’s smarts and skills that matter, not one’s sexual orientation.

Petraeus tells NBC’s “Meet The Press” that he supports Defense Secretary Robert Gates’ plan to study how the ban could be repealed. Advocates for a quick repeal have said the yearlong review is a stalling tactic. But Petraeus says it’s a good idea to look at potential problems.

He wouldn’t give his personal opinion on whether the ban should be lifted. He says he’ll do so when …

Beck At CPAC: “Progressivism Is The Cancer In America”

Pulling out his blackboard at the Conservative Political Action Conference, Glenn Beck used his time to bash progressives. (via TV Newser)

Then, a few minutes in, to shouts of “We love you Glenn,” Beck brought out his trademark chalkboard. “You have no idea what it’s like to travel with one of these things.” Writing out progressivism, Beck said, “This is the disease in this nation.”

Introducing Beck, CPAC Chairman David Keene said his show is “not so much a traditional talk show as a graduate seminar in political philosophy and world history.” Say what? Keene added that he was …

Instead Of Complaining About It, Why Doesn’t Evan Bayh Stay And Help Fix It?

    cannon3

Evan Bayh has a long op-ed in the New York Times entitled “Why I’m Leaving the Senate.”  After reading it, I’m not sure why he’s leaving, other than that there’s too much hostility between sides and you can’t get anything done because of the filibuster.

There are many causes for the dysfunction: strident partisanship, unyielding ideology, a corrosive system of campaign financing, gerrymandering of House districts, endless filibusters, holds on executive appointees in the Senate, dwindling social interaction between senators of opposing parties and a caucus system that promotes party unity at the expense of bipartisan consensus.

    Party unity? Like …

    CPAC: All Attack, No Vision

    md_horiz1

CPAC rhymes with attack, and that is fitting for what the rhetoric has been at the Conservative Political Action Conference. John Bolton called President Obama “the most radical president we have ever elected in this country.”  Ann Coulter is partying like it’s 1998 doing Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky jokes.

She said President Clinton’s health care effort was the “second most disgusting thing” he did in the Oval Office. She attacked Clinton over his recent emergency treatment for chest pains, saying that he told his doctors his symptoms were that he “felt like two interns were sitting on his chest.”

    Andrew Breitbart …
