Obama Now Says Drill Baby Drill

offshore-drilling-platform1

After running against the idea of drilling off the coasts, President Obama is now reversing a ban that would allow drilling along the southern Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and part of Alaska.

…Obama said, “This is not a decision that I’ve made lightly.” He addressed the expected outcry from disappointed environmentalists by saying he had studied the issue for more than a year and concluded it was the right call given the nation’s voracious thirst for energy and the need to produce jobs and keep American businesses competitive.

“We’re announcing the expansion of offshore oil and gas …

Rep. Grayson Confronts Tea Party Organizer And Demands He Take Reponsibility For Threats

grayson

by Thomas Wellborn

Sparks nearly fly when CNN’s Rick Sanchez interviews Congressman Alan Grayson and Jordan Marks, a Tea Party activist. Marks refuses to take responsibility when Grayson accuses the organization of inciting violence and hate speech, including a death threat to his own 5-year-old son.  In spite of video evidence showing Tea Party activists and Republican Congress members holding shocking anti-Obama signs during rallies, and the recent wave of threats and attacks on Congressional offices across the country, Marks tells Sanchez, “I think it’s a shame that people point to the tea party as inciting ignorance.”

Demands by Grayson …

N.S.A. Wiretapping Program Illegal: Federal Judge

resized_15587887

by Thomas Wellborn

The Obama Administration’s effort to keep the NSA’s highly controversial warrantless wiretapping program hidden has been rejected by a federal judge.  Judge Vaughn R. Walker ruled that this program, started by President George W. Bush, violated a 1978 federal statute.

The government had violated a 1978 federal statute requiring court approval for domestic surveillance when it intercepted phone calls of Al Haramain, a now-defunct Islamic charity in Oregon, and of two lawyers who were representing it in 2004. Declaring that the plaintiffs had been “subjected to unlawful surveillance,” the judge said that the government was liable …

Bill Donohue Says Predatory Priests Are Not Pedophiles Because Most Victims Are Post Pubescent

bill

by Thomas Wellborn

Is Bill Donohue’s astounding defense of  predatory priests supposed to make us feel relieved about the Catholic Church scandals?  His claim that these priests weren’t pedophiles because their victims had achieved puberty, as though that somehow mitigates the behavior, is nothing short of abhorrent.  Donohue then went on to defend the pope, saying he knew nothing about the case in Wisconsin, and that there was no proof that it even happened at all.

It appears that when Pope Benedict was an archbishop, going after sexual predators was not a priority.

As archbishop, Benedict expended more …

Tea Partier Tells Mediaite Racist Sign Was Forged; We Have Him On Record Defending Its Use

tea_robertson_1

Self-proclaimed Tea Party founder Dale Robertson told Tommy Christopher at Mediaite that the infamous photo of him holding a sign with the n-word (which he spelled wrong) is a fake. Reports Christopher:

I spoke to Dale Robertson, who says that the photo is a fake. Since Robertson’s quote was linked to the photo on Friday, many conservatives have asserted that Robertson is a fake. Let’s try to get to the bottom of both charges.

The photograph in question…depicts Robertson holding a sign that says “Congress=Slaveowner, Taxpayer=N***ar.” The misspelled n-word appears to have been duct-taped over the original sign, which Robertson …

GOP Now Worried About Being “The Party Of Repeal”

not-allowed

Concerned about evolving from “the party of no” to “the party of never” some Republicans are beginning to realize that running on the issue of repeal is not such a good idea.

Repeal is politically and legally unlikely, and grass-roots activists may feel disillusioned by a failed crusade. More important, say strategists from both parties, a fiercely repeal-the-bill stance might prove far less popular in a general election than in a conservative-dominated GOP primary, especially in states such as Illinois and California.

It always helps if you run on a positive message of change. Worked for Obama.

Republican strategist …

Scott McClellan And David Frum: Tea Parties “Outrageous,” “Bad For GOP”

by Thomas Wellborn

Former Bush Administration members Scott McClellan and David Frum seized an opportunity on CNN’s Larry King Live to condemn the Tea Party movement.  Former Bush speechwriter David Frum stated the group “wasn’t helpful” to the GOP. Former Press Secretary Scott McClellan (pictured) said,  “[The Tea Party is] a divisive protest movement that plays too much to people’s fears and hatred.”

Meanwhile, Nancy Pfotenhauer, a GOP strategist who has worked for David Koch, the oil tycoon funding those organizing the Tea Parties, lauded the movement as “phenomenal.”…

Sarah Palin Tells Tea Partiers To Stop Drivers With Obama Bumper Stickers

palin-searchlight-cropped-proto-custom_2

Less than a week after a man was driven off the road for sporting an Obama bumper sticker, Sarah Palin told a tea party rally in Searchlight, NV to stop cars with Obama stickers on them.

“…that bumper sticker you see on the next Subaru driving by, an Obama bumper sticker. You should stop the driver and say, “So how is that hopey, changey thing working out for you?”

Catch the insanity at 2:55 into the video:
