Kucinich Flips To “Yes” On Health Care Bill

100317_kucinich_ap_218

Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich, who just last week told me he would vote “no” on the health care bill because it does not contain a public option, now says he’ll vote “yes.”  Kucinich said last week he had not been lobbied by the president, but that changed this week.  The former Cleveland mayor and presidential candidate says the president did a good sales job.

“I take this vote with the utmost seriousness,” Kucinich said. “My criticism of the legislation has been well reported. … I have doubts about the bill. This is not the bill I wanted to support.”…

Hawaii Considering Bill To Ignore Birthers

barackobamacertificationoflivebirthhawaii

Hawaii continues to be bombarded with requests from birthers wanting to verify that President Obama was born there, so the legislature would like to make it so they don’t have to answer every ridiculous request. (h/t Think Progress)  A certificate of live birth, pictured, is still being questioned by the wingutarazi.

Hawaii Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino issued statements last year and in October 2008 saying that she’s seen vital records that prove Obama is a natural-born American citizen.

But the state still gets between 10 and 20 e-mails seeking verification of Obama’s birth each week, most of them …

Eric Holder To Congress: Bin Laden Has Same Rights As Charles Manson

charles-manson-at-74

Attorney General Eric Holder stood up for the Constitution before a House appropriations subcommittee hearing, making the point that all murder defendants get the same treatment.

“These defendants, many of whom are charged with murder, would be treated just like any other murder defendants,” Holder said with evident exasperation. “The comparison….the question is: Are they being treated the way any other murderer would be? They have the same rights Charles Manson would have.”

While Holder thought the Manson comparison would make Americans feel more comfortable with the idea of civilian trials for terrorism suspects, Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas) disagreed and …

After Praising Costa Rica’s Health Care, Limbaugh Bashes Obama As “Third World President”

map_costarica

Rush Limbaugh, who urged listeners to call Congress to protest health care reform and is calling Obama a “third world president,” told his March 8 audience that if Democratic-backed health care reform passes, he’ll go to Costa Rica, bellowing, “If this passes, and it’s five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented — I am leaving the country. I’ll go to Costa Rica.”

The next day, he clarified that he wouldn’t move, just seek care at a private clinic there that caters to medical tourists. Still, the comments showcased the country’s state-run system, said Lawrence Jacobs, political …

Rep. Louie Gohmert At Tea Party Rally: “I Brought An Abortion To Show You Today”

Falsely claiming that abortions are paid for in the health care bill, Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert waved a copy of the bill at the few who showed up at a tea party rally, yelling, “I brought an abortion to show you today,” and “There’s a whole lot of demons going on.” (via Think Progress)

In fact, the bill goes out of its way to separate abortion coverage from other medical needs.

If the carrier chooses to provide abortion coverage, “the issuer of the plan shall not use any amount attributable to any of the following for purposes of paying …

Maddow Shows Hayworth That Massachusetts Ruling Won’t Lead To Man-Horse Marriage

jdhayworth_maddow-cropped-proto-custom_2

J.D. Hayworth, who is challenging John McCain from the right for his Arizona Senate seat, claimed that approval of gay marriage in Massachusetts could lead to a man marrying a horse.

“You see, the Massachusetts Supreme Court, when it started this move toward same-sex marriage, actually defined marriage — now get this — it defined marriage as simply, ‘the establishment of intimacy,’” Hayworth said. “Now how dangerous is that? I mean, I don’t mean to be absurd about it, but I guess I can make the point of absurdity with an absurd point — I guess that would mean …

Liberals To Dems: Vote No On Health Care, Get Challenged From The Left

3.3.08-MICHAEL-MCMAHON

Labor and progressives are sending a signal to House Democrats that there will be anger and retribution if health care doesn’t pass, and those who vote “no” will be targeted.

New York and a handful of other states have “fusion” rules that allow candidates to run on multiple ballot lines, giving minor parties like the Working Families a great deal of political leverage. For wavering Upstate New York moderates like Reps. Michael Arcuri, Scott Murphy, and Bill Owens, the line could mean the margin between victory and defeat.

The first target, however, seems to be Rep. Michael McMahon (pictured), …
