The Board of Commissioners in Griffin, Georgia has declared April “Confederate History Month.”

Board of Commissioners member Joanne Todd (pictured with member Larry Johnson) read a proclamation describing how April “began and ended a four-year heroic struggle for states’ rights, individual freedom, local government control and determined struggle for deeply held beliefs.”

Confederate forces fired on Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861, and Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered to Union Gen. Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865.

So they are celebrating how they lost the Civil War. How nice.
