Republicans Working SCOTUS To Destroy Campaign Finance “Soft” Money Ban

Looking at it now, Republicans are having a tough year. They lost the stimulus package battle. They lost the health care reform battle. They’ve lost touch with the American people, and now survive with a base of voters who are just angry about everything even if their anger makes no sense. Yes, looking at it today, you see a Republican Party that’s just getting its butt kicked.
But a few years from now – if not a few months – we all may look back at 2010 as the year the Republicans dramatically turned the tide. Because …

(via David Weigel)
Birthers, claiming the president is ineligible to serve because he wasn’t born here, will conduct a March in the nation’s capital on May 29. Attorney Philip Berg, who’s been pushing this for some time, will says opposition to health care reform will be part of the march because, as Berg claims:
The Healthcare bill (ObamaCare) signed into Law by Obama on March 23, 2010 is unconstitutional and voidable since he is ineligible to serve as President of the United States.
Berg has claimed that even if he were born in Hawaii, he lost his citizenship when …

Thomas Hagan, then known as Thalmage X. Hayer, who was the only person who admitted shooting Malcolm X, and was the last person serving time for the 1965 murder, is free on parole after 45 years.
Hagan, 69, has said he was one of three gunmen who shot Malcolm X as he began a speech at Harlem’s Audubon Ballroom on Feb. 21, 1965. But Hagan has said the two men convicted with him were not involved.
They maintained their innocence and were paroled in the 1980s. No one else has ever been charged.

Eugene Robinson in the Washington Post correctly characterizes Arizona’s new immigration law as “an abomination — racist, arbitrary, oppressive, mean-spirited, unjust.” Tea partiers’ main premise is that the government is too intrusive into our lives and needs to be abated. So why aren’t they front and center protesting a law that requires immigrants to carry papers at all times and tells authorities to demand proof that anyone stopped isn’t here illegally? And why aren’t these anti-tax protesters angry that their dollars are likely to go to defend the state against lawsuits?

As Robinson opines:
It seems …

A commission formed to focus on ways to cut the deficit has its first meeting today, and is already encountering criticism.
“We’re afraid the solutions they focus on will be entitlement cuts which are completely unwarranted,” Roger Hickey, co-director for the Campaign for America’s Future, an umbrella organization of liberal groups.
Brian Darling, director of Senate relations at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, said he feared the Obama administration would use the panel to justify tax increases.
“The bottom line is if you give politicians an easy way out they will take it,” Mr. Darling said. …

How Christ-like to claim that the president is punishment to the country from God. That’s what Texas State Rep. Leo Berman believes. Berman spoke at an event with Glenn Beck, Congressman Louie Gohmert, and Governor Rick Perry.
Berman told the crowd, “I believe that Barack Obama is God’s punishment on us today, but in 2012, we are going to make Obama a one-term president.”
Gohmert said, “The longer we go, the more we see how important it is to stick with principles.”
Texas Governor Perry married himself to the tea party, referring to it as an “army” looking to …

Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry (pictured) calls them unconstitutional intrusions into women’s lives. He vetoed two measures that the Oklahoma House has now overridden, and the Senate is expected to do as the House did.
One of the measures requires women to undergo an ultrasound and listen to a detailed description of the fetus before getting an abortion. The other prohibits pregnant women from seeking damages if physicians withhold information or provide inaccurate information about their pregnancy.
Supporters said the second measure was aimed at preventing women from discriminating against fetuses with disabilities. The votes were 81-14 and 84-12.
Henry, …

Dick Leinenkugel, a beer mogul who is also a former Wisconsin labor secretary, is looking to unseat Senator Russ Feingold.
Political experts say Leinenkugel is starting off with name recognition because of his family’s beer business, but has to build people’s political awareness of him. They also say he’ll have to blunt criticism for serving 18 months in the administration of Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle.

Feingold’s campaign said Leinenkugel can’t seem to decide if he’s running on his record or running away from it.…

David Duke is standing up for the tea partiers, who he says, “are overwhelmingly white and non-Jewish.” Who said anything about tea parties and Jews? Duke tries to make the case that blacks are the racist Americans because 99% of them voted for Obama; actually it was 96%, the same amount statistically, as Al Gore (95%) and John Kerry (93%).
Duke says the tea partiers stand for the same things he does:

Tea Party people are called racist because the vast majority wants to stop the massive non-European immigration that will turn …

South Carolina Lt. Governor Andre Bauer, who is looking to become the state’s governor, says lazy residents of the state who are living on the government dole instead of working, are contributing to the illegal immigrant problem.
(h/t Political Wire)
“The real problem is the work force,” Bauer said, speaking of a state with 12.2 percent unemployment, the sixth-highest jobless rate in the country. “The problem is we have a give-away system that is so strong that people would rather sit home and do nothing than do these jobs. Laziness is not a disability. There are a lot …
