Right-Wing Immigration Group Wants Lindsey Graham To Admit He’s Gay

Americans for Legal Immigration Political Action Committee, upset with South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham’s call for a “fair path forward” for illegal immigrants, is demanding that Graham “come out of that log cabin closet.”

William Gheen, head of ALIPAC, referenced a three year old speech Graham made to the National Council of La Raza during which he noted that to many immigrants America is an idea and “no group owns being an American.” When Gheen repeated this someone in the crowd hollered “neuter Lindsey Graham.”

Arizona Anti-Immigrant Bill Would Allow Police To Question Anyone Who Doesn’t Look Right

A bill that would become the nation’s strictest immigration law, if signed by Republican Governor Jan Brewer, would effectively give police the right to question anyone they suspect of not being in the country legally.

The bill would require immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and require police to question people if there’s reason to suspect they’re in the United States illegally. It also targets those who hire illegal immigrant day laborers or knowingly transport them.

Hakim Scott and Keith Phoenix have pleaded not guilty to second degree murder as a hate crime and assault in the beating death of Jose Sukuzhanay (left) and his brother Ramel. One of President Obama’s five long-stalled judicial nominees, Marisa Demeo, has thus far faced the longest delay of any judicial nominee.  She was nominated by Obama on March 24, 2009, and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs endorsed her on May 20.

Supreme Court Ruling Protects Sale Of Animal Abuse Recordings As Free Speech

Today the Supreme Court ruled that free speech now includes the right to sell depictions of animal torture and killing.   The Court, in an 8-1 decision, held that the law designed to stop sales and profits from “crush” and dog-fight videos was too broad and construed its application as censorship.

Chief Justice John Roberts opined that while animal cruelty is prohibited, there is no such tradition applied to depictions of that cruelty.  Unlike depictions of child pornography, apparently other crimes like animal abuse aren’t subject to the same legal distinction and protection.  Justice …

Joe Lieberman Subpoenas Obama Administration

It’s highly unusual for a Member of Congress to issue a subpoena to a president of the same political party (although, in this case the member campaigned for and supported the opposition during the election).  However, Joe Lieberman is accusing the Obama administration of stalling on its investigation into the shootings at Fort Hood.  Lieberman says the Departments of Defense and Justice have rejected requests for documents for five months.
