Sarah Palin Tells Redneck Jokes At NRA Fest Because “These Are Me”

article-0-0275B48A00000578-863_468x575

Addressing the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina Sarah Palin decided it would be really cool to tell some redneck jokes.

Palin claimed that some in the media have tried to portray members of the Tea Party movement as “violent or racist or rednecks.”

“And I don’t really have a problem with the redneck part of it, to tell you the truth. I don’t,” the former vice presidential candidate told the crowd. “That’s fine with me.”

Palin told the gun rights supporters how she recently searched online for the best redneck jokes to prepare for an …

How Important Is Your Ketchup?

heinz-ketchup-old-bottle

Heinz is changing its formula for the first time in 40 years in order to lower its salt content.  People are worried, nervous, fearful that the ketchup they are used to will never be the same.

“Leave the ketchup alone,” said Heinz fan, Patrick Johnson, of Brooklyn. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”

“I’m so used to the ketchup the way it is — why would they change it?” said Joe Oliva of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, who has been eating the ketchup for nearly eight decades. “I’m 80 years old, and I haven’t died yet. It’s really hard for …

GOP Attacks Obama On Jobs, Then Blocks Jobs Bill

House Minority Leader John Boehner continues to attack President Obama for a lack of job creation, and yet his own party continues to stand in the way of whatever Obama and Democrats in Congress propose to address the issue.

Republicans hoping to capitalize on the public’s economic concerns to score electoral gains went on the attack against Obama’s jobs agenda.

“Check your facts, Mr. President,” U.S. House of Representatives Republican leader John Boehner said in a statement. “More debt, higher taxes, and bigger government may be President Obama’s idea of a ‘jobs program,’ but it’s hurting our economy and making …

Obama Not Ready To Give Back The Keys

At a DCCC fundraiser in New York City last night, President Obama got metaphoric.
(h/t TPM)

“After they drove the car into the ditch, made it as difficult as possible for us to pull it back, now they want the keys back. No. You can’t drive. We don’t want to have to go back into the ditch. We just got the car out.”

Should Dick Cheney Testify Under Oath On The Oil Spill? Chris Matthews Thinks So

Picture-55

Former Halliburton CEO Dick Cheney had secret meetings with energy company executives as Vice President, signaling cozy relationships with a company that paid him a bonus when he left to work in the White House.  So, what did he know and when did he know it?

Matthews cited a string of what he considered suspicious activity by the former Vice President and former Halliburton CEO, such as a transaction where “he received some kind of bonus or whatever” when he left Halliburton for the White House, and the lack of meaningful oversight on oil companies. The oil companies and their …

Liberals Are True Patriots

pressthp

by Gabe Berman

Gabe is a freelance writer for the Miami Herald and author of Live Like a Fruit Fly

The right-wingers have successfully transformed the word “liberal” into a seven letter, 4-letter word.

I normally don’t concern myself with the transparent semantic tricks of small-minded people but, like The Godfather pulling all the strings, their greed-based influence has reached the mainstream media.  The pundits and newscasters say the word “liberal” with the same horrified affectation as if they were saying “child molester.”

Because of this nonsense with wordplay, some liberals have become embarrassed by this label and now refer …

Maine Republicans Trash School Where Convention Was Held

The Maine Republican Party, which has been taken over by the tea party, abused the privilege of using a school classroom for a meeting during its state convention, and justified their behavior by saying they saw “anti-American” things there.
(h/t AMERICAblog)

One School Committee member [Sarah Thompson], saying she’s “appalled” by the behavior of some of the Republicans who used a room at King Middle School last weekend, wants to protect the city’s public schools from future harm.

“We allowed them to use the space and I’m appalled that they would go through a teacher’s things, let …

Inhofe: Soldiers Won’t Fight For “Guy In The Next Foxhole” If That Guy Is Gay

Yesterday, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) told the American Family Association that if gays were allowed to serve openly in the military, fellow soldiers would be less likely to fight and die to protect them. Not surprisingly, his views were received favorably by host Bryan Fischer, who has suggested that gays be imprisoned.
(h/t Right Wing Watch via ThinkProgress)

INHOFE: “You hear the stories all the time. A military guy — I happen to be Army, and Army and Marines always feel that when we’re out there, we’re not doing it for the flag or the country; we’re doing …

If City Paper Has Its Way, The Cat Lives

cover-1

Philadelphia’s City Paper is going to do something terrible to this cat if Pennsylvania residents don’t vote for Joe Sestak in the May 18 Democratic Senate primary. Maybe it’s that Arlen Specter didn’t show up when invited by the paper; or maybe that it’s that voting for the more progressive Democrat is a good idea.

Here’s how it worked: The City Paper editorial board — Publisher Paul Curci, Editor in Chief Brian Howard, Senior Editor Patrick Rapa, News Editor Jeffrey C. Billman and staff writers Isaiah Thompson and Holly Otterbein — invited candidates down to our Old City offices for …
