Florida Mosque Bombed; Possible Domestic Terrorism

When crimes committed by Muslims occurred, such as Fort Hood, the underwear bomber, or the Times Square bomber, there was a great rush to call it “terrorism” and there were immediate calls for racial profiling. Now the FBI is investigating a pipe-bombing at the Jacksonville Islamic Center of Northeast Florida, and there is a videotape featuring a possible suspect. (h/t Karoli at Crooks and Liars)

“It was a dangerous device, and had anybody been around it they could have been seriously injured or killed,” says Special Agent James Casey. “We want to sort of emphasize the seriousness of the …

My Opinion

Alan

I think you are an offensive, insulting p**ck. I wouldn’t listen to you if you were the last talk radio host on earth. I would rather listen to Ben Laden. At least he is more honest about his intentions.

You show no respect for anyone. You are an insultive p**ck. Sorry Fox has fallen to so such low standards. You need to be unemployed.

I’m glad you want your  tax dollars to pay when I file for unemployment.

Arizona Official Threatens To Shut Off Power To California As Payback For Boycott

masthead

Gary Pierce, of the Arizona Corporation Commission, fired off a letter to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa threatening to cut off California’s power supply.  Pierce is steamed by the Los Angeles City Council’s decision to boycott his state because of its new immigration law.

Noting that a quarter of Los Angeles’ electricity comes from Arizona power plants, Pierce threatened to pull the plug if the City Council does not reconsider.

“Doggone it — if you’re going to boycott this candy store … then don’t come in for any of it,” Pierce told FoxNews.com.

Pierce’s letter read, in part:

“If …

Reality Bites For Conservatives

3783

By William K. Wolfrum

One day the Earth will be a smoldering pile of death and destruction and just one person – holding all the world’s wealth – will exist. And if that person is a conservative, he or she will praise the Milton Friedman economics that got them there. Because if there’s one thing conservatives know, it’s that their ideas and beliefs have an anchor of failure tied to them in the history books. So, in order to wash off the stench of incompetent and greedy governance, conservatives consistently need to revise history.

Which is why you hear right-wingers …

Howard Dean: Tuesday Was A Big Night For Progressives

howard_dean_talking-cropped-proto-custom_2

Former DNC Chair Howard Dean told TPMDC that Tuesday night’s results were a good sign for progressives.

“My belief is that progressive Dems are a lot more appealing to mainstream voters than tea party advocates…

“This is a big night for people who really want Washington to be a change agent,” Dean said, adding the results show a “backlash” against both parties in official Washington. Dean, also former governor of Vermont and a 2004 presidential candidate, said he views Jack Conway as the progressive choice in Kentucky and said Lt. Gov. Bill Halter’s forcing of a runoff in Arkansas proves …

GOP Fail

100519_mark_critz_victory_ap_218

When Republicans get smug about how disgusted Americans are with Democrats and predict big victory this fall, it’s instructive to look at the special election to replace the late Congressman Jack Murtha in Pennsylvania’s 12th district.  In an area where President Obama’s approval rating is 35%, where 58% opposed health care reform, Nancy Pelosi has a 63% unfavorable rating, and John McCain won in 2008, Democrat Mark Critz won by eight points over Republican Tim Burns. Critz ran a campaign disassociated from the national party and from its better-known leaders, while Burns tried to tie him to Obama and Pelosi.…

Blanche Lincoln Forced Into Arkansas Run-Off

halter_lincoln-cropped-proto-custom_2

Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln is going to have a June 8 run-off with her Democratic primary challenger, Lt. Governor Bill Halter. Neither candidate was able to garner a majority of the vote, necessary in that state to win the nomination.  Even though Lincoln has said she’d be happy with even a run-off result, it’s not a good sign when an incumbent isn’t a clear-cut victor.…

Maria Bartiromo: Pretty And Pretty Petty

Maria-Bartiromo

by Gabe Berman

Gabe is a freelance writer for the Miami Herald and author of Live Like a Fruit Fly

As Seen in the Bookstore…

Maria Bartiromo’s new book is in desperate need of a title change.  As of now it’s called The 10 Laws of Enduring Success but really should be renamed The 11 Laws of Enduring Success.

The first ten are regurgitated drivel from other motivational business books but the eleventh, as far as Maria’s career is concerned, is the key that unlocks all doors.

Law #11:  Be moderately pretty, spew lots of numbers with utmost confidence …

Joe Sestak Beats Arlen Specter For Democratic Senate Nod In Pennsylvania

joe-sestak

In another primary night upset, Pennsylvania Congressman Joe Sestak has defeated five-term Senator Arlen Specter in that state’s primary, reports the Associated Press. Like the defeated Trey Grayson in Kentucky, Specter had the support of his party’s establishment, but wasn’t trusted as a true Democrat by the voters, as he’d served as a Republican until 2009. Specter has said that he would back Sestak against former Congressman Pat Toomey, who is the Republican nominee for the seat.

The vote also was a defeat for President Barack Obama, who supported Specter when he abandoned the Republican Party last year.

The moderate Specter cast …

Rand Paul Wins Kentucky GOP Senate Nomination

rand_paul

Rand Paul has beaten Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson for the GOP Senate nomination for the seat being vacated by Jim Bunning. Paul, the son of Ron Paul, is considered the Tea Party candidate. It was Grayson who had the support of the Republican establishment.

Paul’s victory came after a year of smoothing over the difference between libertarians and conservatives. His first TV ad stated opposition to the closing of the prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He sought, and won, the endorsement of conservatives who are anathema to some libertarians — Dr. James Dobson, Sarah Palin.

In the …
