Sarah Palin claimed on the O’Reilly Factor that the administration wasn’t open to accepting help from foreign nations, including the Dutch who “can’t get their calls returned.” She blamed the president for not consulting with the Dutch because they’re “known for dykes and for cleaning up water and for dealing with spills.” But the administration did solicit help from foreign countries, including the Dutch. In the past week, the United States submitted its second request to the European Union for any specialized equipment to contain the oil now seeping onto the Gulf of Mexico’s marshes and …

A new Associated Press-GFK Poll reveals that by a margin of 46-39%, respondents want Democrats to remain in control of Congress. (h/t Teagan Goddard)
The good news for Democrats: By a margin of 47 percent to 42 percent, people trust them more than Republicans to guide the economy, and slightly more — 64 percent — say their household budgets are in good shape.
It’s not all good for Democrats, but it’s encouraging.
Congressional Democrats get a thumbs-up from 38 percent, modestly more than the 32 percent who approve of how Capitol Hill Republicans are doing their jobs. When …

We’ve already chronicled the many crazy ideas put forth by Harry Reid’s Republican opponent in the Nevada Senate race. We also mentioned that she was, for six years, a member of the far-right Independent Party who left for the GOP only because that was the only way she could win an election. But what makes it even more damaging to her political fortunes is that Sharron Angle left the Republicans at the height of the Reagan Revolution.
And Angle was a member of three or four political parties since the 1970′s.
Nevada Senate nominee Sharron Angle, a tea party …

Iowa Congressman Steve King is standing by comments he made on G. Gordon Liddy’s radio show that President Obama has a “default mechanism” that “favors the black person.” King also accused Attorney General Eric Holder of not pursuing certain cases because the accused were minorities.
“I have no regrets about what I said. I stand by what I said because what I said is accurate. It’s factual,” King said during an interview with Radio Iowa late this afternoon. “I think the president should answer and Attorney General Holder should answer for the justice department being used in the way it …

On FOX News’s O’Reilly Factor, Sarah Palin criticized President Obama for not stopping “the gusher,” but couldn’t answer when asked how she would do the same. When pressed by O’Reilly, she blamed the president for not consulting with the Dutch because they’re “known for dykes and for cleaning up water and for dealing with spills.” (h/t Greg Sargent).

As a consequence of the Arizona immigration law, students who are sent to detention could wind up being sent much farther away.
There is no clear line that will determine when school resource officers (SRO) — police officers or sheriff’s deputies assigned to work in schools — can investigate a student’s immigration status under the new law.
The law requires an officer to determine a person’s immigration status if they are stopped, detained or arrested and there is “reasonable suspicion” they are in the U.S. illegally.
School resource officers have received no guidance from the state and are unsure how …
