Mel Gibson Set To Leave U.S. And Move Back To Australia

article-0-0A713EBA000005DC-549_224x423

Mel Gibson has sold his New York-area property and has his Malibu home on the market, preparing to move back to Australia, reports the Daily Mail. Gibson is being defended by, and may be reunited with, his ex-wife.

He has told friends that he will move back to Australia – where he grew up after moving from America when he was 12 – with his ex-wife Robyn, who still supports him.

Gibson, 54, is ready to contest the allegations of Oksana Grigorieva, 40, who claims he punched her and hurt their baby, Lucia, in a drunken rage in January.…

Joe Biden: White House Shrunk Stimulus To Get GOP Votes

v74

Vice President Joe Biden tells ABC’s Jake Tapper that the stimulus package would have been bigger if they could have passed such a package.

“I think it would have been bigger,” he told ABC’s Jake Tapper in an interview airing Sunday. “In fact, what we offered was slightly bigger than that.”…

A Do-Something President, Not Afraid Of Big Things

obama8

by Stuart Shapiro

Earlier this week, Congress passed financial reform which will be signed by President Obama in the days ahead.  As Sheryl Gay Stolberg notes in the New York Times, this marks the third economy-wide statute that has been passed in a year and a half under Obama.

The financial regulatory bill is the final piece of a legislative hat trick that also included the stimulus bill and the landmark new health care law. Over the last 18 months, Mr. Obama and the Democratic Congress have made considerable inroads in passing what could be the most ambitious agenda …

Why Nancy Pelosi Is Right

pelosi

by James Frye

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said recently in a fundraising email that the Democrats “will keep control of the House. Period.” The first impulse would be to dismiss this as nothing but something any party leader would say about an upcoming election, but I think she’s spot on here.

Let’s start with the polls.  Most push the fact that the Democrats and Obama have slipped in popularity right now, but further down in all of those stories is something that has held steady:  Most voters don’t like the Republicans’ ideas, they don’t want …

Neo-Nazi Sympathizer Leading Arizona Anti-Immigrant Patrols

jtready

Jason “J.T.” Ready has declared war on “narco-terrorists” and is leading a militia in Arizona, on the lookout for illegal immigrants.

But local law enforcement are nervous given that Ready’s group is heavily armed and identifies with the National Socialist Movement, an organization that believes only non-Jewish, white heterosexuals should be American citizens and that everyone who isn’t white should leave the country “peacefully or by force.”

“We’re not going to sit around and wait for the government anymore,” Ready said. “This is what our founding fathers did.”

Really? Our founding fathers wanted to keep out gays and Jews …

Senator David Vitter Apologizes To Rachel Maddow For Boys Club Stupidity

image3037337g

Louisiana Senator David Vitter was hopefully not as snarky about whatever woman was provided to him by the DC madam. Appearing on a morning radio show, Vitter was yukking it up with the hosts about Maddow’s high school yearbook picture.

MALE HOST: I wonder if Senator Vitter is ever going to post, like, maybe the video of the first time he was on the floor of the Senate. If I have to show the way I looked the first time I was on TV, you should do that too.
VITTER: We should go further back than that, how …

matalin-e1279319576768

Mary Matalin, who was a key adviser to Dick Cheney, says tea party leader Mark Williams is a crackpot who isn’t in a position to influence anyone. (h/t Mediaite). As chronicled on Liberaland, Williams has urged people to be intentionally vague in filing claims against BP, said Muslims worship a “monkey God,” and has referred to President Obama as the “racist-in-chief,” a Muslim, and “a welfare thug.”

Oil Pipeline Explodes In China

13401837_11n

How many more oil casualties will there be before there is a greater push for sustainable energy?

An oil pipeline at a busy Chinese port exploded, causing a massive fire that burned for 15 hours before being put out Saturday. Officials said no one was killed.

State-run media said the pipeline blew up Friday evening, and more than 2,000 firefighters worked overnight to control flames and further blasts on a second pipeline.

China Central Television showed flames raging among tanks at the port in the northern city of Dalian, and state media described flames of about 100 feet (30 meters) …

John Boehner: “A Moratorium On New Federal Regulations Is A Great Idea”

john_boehner

by Stuart Shapiro

House Minority Leader John Boehner today called for a moratorium on all federal regulations.  He later backpedaled (or his spokesman did) and said that he didn’t mean emergency regulations for the oil industry.

“I think having a moratorium on new federal regulations is a great idea it sends a wonderful signal to the private sector that they’re going to have some breathing room.”

“I think there’s probably a way to do this with an exemption for emergency regulations that may be needed for some particular agency or another. But if the American people knew there was
