Six In Ten Americans Say They Lack Faith In Obama

obama_sc_04_01_2007-731285

A Washington Post-ABC News Poll shows that 6 in 10 Americans lack faith in the president’s ability to make the right decisions for the country.

Overall, more than a third of voters polled — 36 percent — say they have no confidence or only some confidence in the president, congressional Democrats and congressional Republicans. Among independents, this disillusionment is higher still. About two-thirds of all voters say they are dissatisfied with or angry about the way the federal government is working.

Such broad negative sentiments have spurred a potent anti-incumbent mood. Just 26 percent of registered voters say they are …

Judge Andrew Napolitano: Bush And Cheney Should Have Been Indicted

judge_napolitano

My libertarian friend, Judge Andrew Napolitano, appeared with Ralph Nader on C-SPAN’s BookTV, and had some rather harsh words for the last Republican administration.

Napolitano: So what President Bush did with the suspension of habeas corpus, with the whole concept of Guantanamo Bay, with the whole idea that he could avoid and evade federal laws, treaties, federal judges and the Constitution was blatantly unconstitutional and is some cases criminal.

Nader: What’s the sanction for President Bush and Vice President Cheney?

Napolitano: There’s been no sanction except what history will say about them.

Nader: What should be …

Whoopi Goldberg Defends Mel Gibson

Picture-113-e1278966800102

She does call him a bonehead, but does “bonehead” really cover what his his? (h/t Mediaite)

You can say he’s being a bonehead but I can’t sit and say that he’s a racist having spent time with him in my house with my kids. I can’t say it and so I really just need to say that. I don’t like what he’s done. Make no mistake.

Goldberg also said that “drunks say stupid stuff to people,” even though she said, “I don’t think he’s drunk on this rant.” But since when is anti-Semitism caused by liquor?

Lousiana Senator David Vitter Goes Birther

1_62_vitter_david_320

Senator David Vitter of Louisiana has decided that he is in favor or pursuing lawsuits to see if President Obama was actually born in the United States. During a Q and A at a tea party event, Vitter was asked about the president’s failure to provide birth certificate.

“I personally don’t have standing to bring litigation in court,” Vitter said. “But I support conservative legal organizations and others who would bring that to court. I think that is the valid and most possibly effective grounds to do it.”

Not-so-coincidentally, Vitter just found out that he is facing a last-minute primary …

Newt: “I’ve Never Been This Serious” About Running For President

newt-gingrich

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tells the Associated Press that he will decide in February or March whether to seek the Republican nomination for president, after helping Republican candidates in the midterm elections.

“I’ve never been this serious,” Gingrich said.

“It’s fair to say that by February the groundwork will have been laid to consider seriously whether or not to run,” he said.

Gingrich says he’s convinced that Obama will be a one-term president.…

Mel Gibson Goes Even Crazier

wenn27242682

You wouldn’t have thought it possible for Mel Gibson to sound even crazier than he did on the earlier audio that was released, but that is proven untrue by the new audio released by RadarOnline.

As Mel and Oksana argue, the Braveheart star becomes increasingly incensed, and tells her: “You need a f*cking bat in the side of the head. Alright, how about that?”

Later on the tape, Mel alludes to killing and burying her. As the former couple’s argument grows worse and worse Oksana tells Mel: “You’re gonna answer one day, boy, you’re gonna answer.”

Infuriated, Mel asks …

GOP Colorado Senate Candidate: Liberals Are “The Greatest Threat” To America

Ken-Buck-1

When former Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo endorsed Ken Buck for U.S. Senate from Colorado and said President Obama is “the greatest threat to our liberty.”

Buck said he didn’t agree with that sentiment, and that Tancredo “tends to exaggerate.” But Buck has changed his tune, and now says “there’s a lot of truth” in what Tancrado says. In fact, Buck went further, saying it’s not just one man, it’s the entire progressive liberal movement.

“The greatest threat folks is not a single man, but rather the progressive liberal movement that is going on in this country. It is the …

Ross Douthat Gets It — Or At Least Most of It.

douthat-profile

by Stuart Shapiro

Ross Douthat of the New York Times, unlike many conservative columnists, honestly engages and gives credit to those he disagrees with.  Today he proposes some tax/budget policies that liberals will find agreeable.

In case after case, Washington’s web of subsidies and tax breaks effectively takes money from the middle class and hands it out to speculators and have-mores. We subsidize drug companies, oil companies, agribusinesses disguised as “family farms” and “clean energy” firms that aren’t energy-efficient at all. We give tax breaks to immensely profitable corporations that don’t need the money and boondoggles that wouldn’t exist …

Why Republicans Won’t Win The House Back

Even though White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said it’s possible the GOP could win the House, First Read points out why it’s unlikely. (h/t Political Wire)

  1. Unlike in ’94, the Republican Party has a fav/unfav score that’s no better (and sometimes event worse) than the Dem Party’s;
  2. Unlike in ’94, the GOP isn’t necessarily running on new ideas or even with many new faces;
  3. The National Republican Congressional Committee has a HUGE financial disadvantage compared with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and the RNC’s political/fundraising troubles won’t be able to make up the difference; and
  4. Winning 39 seats
