As Seen in the Bookstore…
I skimmed through this book and found nothing which supports racism, anti-Semitism, the oppression of gays, the oppression of the poor or the intentional dismantling of the middle class.
I dug a bit deeper and was unable to pinpoint what Jesus said about voting against the environment, voting against health care or voting against unemployment benefits.
The right to bring guns into coffee shops? Wars for oil? The idolatry of Corporate America? Not in the Gospels …

Sarah Palin, doing what she does best and consistently, attacking the “lamestream media,” said they’re the reason she quit her job as governor of Alaska. She said this in the context of attacking Journolist, the list-serv where a few hundred writers participated to exchange ideas. Palin is particularly sensitive to Journolist because at one point the liberals on the list were discussing her, and Palin thinks this is just another example of the “lamestream media” attacking good Americans.
David Corn has it right, er, correct: Those on this list don’t represent the “lamestream media.” It is more like a …

By Yashwanth Manjunath
As tensions rise in the Korean Peninsula after the sinking of the Cheonan, a South Korean battleship four months ago, the North Korean dictatorship is responding the only way it knows how: by making threats. During the Asian security forum in Vietnam today a North Korean spokesman, Ri Tong-il, threatened a “physical response” to planned military exercises by the United States and South Korea this weekend. What exactly that “physical response” will be was not specified, although the sinking of the Cheonan should give some idea. Of course if you ask Ri Tong-il the cause …

by Bruce Friedrich
The collapse of climate legislation nets meager coverage in all the major papers today. The best coverage of the political theater comes, as usual, courtesy of Politico. Aptly titled, “Climate bill blame game begins,” the piece ably chronicles precisely who’s blaming whom for neglecting what Obama rightly called a “planet in peril” during the campaign (spoiler alert: The environmentalists are to blame!).
It may offer only anemic coverage in its news pages, but the New York Times deserves accolades for devoting its lead editorial (which it also places at the very top of its Web site) to the issue, aptly summing up culpability—everyone is to blame.

Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann told a GOP youth convention that if Republicans gain control of the House there is just one thing they should do. (via Political Wire)
“I think that all we should do is issue subpoenas and have one hearing after another. And expose all the nonsense that is going on.”

Funny how Nebraska’s Ben Nelson, a nominal Democrat, believes we can’t afford to help the unemployed, but we can afford tax cuts for the wealthy. Nelson is concerned with deficits when they’re caused by spending, but not when they’re caused by tax cuts.
I support extending unemployment benefits for Nebraskans and Americans who remain out of work. However, I opposed the Senate’s unemployment bill today because it should have, and it could have, been paid for.
“I oppose another $33 billion in deficit spending and increasing the debt.
Nelson’s view on tax cuts and their affects on the deficit is …

It’s true! South Carolina Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene has a music video!
Best lines:
UPDATE: CNN.com reports:
Multiple news organizations, including the New York Times, said the video is an “official” product of Greene’s campaign, but Greene says he had nothing to do with it.
“I don’t know who made it,” Greene told CNN. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t listening. “It sounds good,” he …

Byron Williams, the ex-con who was in a shoot-out with the California highway patrol earlier this week, was headed to the ACLU and the Tides Center. Tides aggregates money from wealthy donors to distribute to worthy charitable organizations. Williams said he wanted to “start a revolution.”
After he was wounded and taken to Highland Hospital in Oakland, Williams told investigators “his intention was to start a revolution by traveling to San Francisco and killing people of importance at the Tides Foundation and the ACLU,” Oakland police Sgt. Michael Weisenberg wrote in a court affidavit.

Former Minnesota Senator Norm Coleman is eying a challenge to Michael Steele for chairmanship of the Republican National Committee.
Coleman is planning to attend the RNC’s summer meeting next month in Kansas City, in part to be on hand for a tribute to longtime New Jersey Committeeman David Norcross, who is stepping down from his party post. But senior Republicans say the former senator’s appearance at the committee’s gathering will also allow him to meet the party members who will pick the next chairman and signal to them that he’s interested in the job.
In the last month, Coleman has …

Andrew Breitbart whines to Politico that, “I am public enemy number one.” Poor baby. The martyred “journalist” believes he was set up by the Obama administration and its allies in an effort to destroy him.
“I am public enemy No. 1 or 2 to the Democratic Party, the progressive movement and the Obama administration based upon the successes my journalism has had,” Breitbart said in a telephone interview late Thursday morning as he headed to the airport for what he said was a long-planned, three-day vacation.
Breitbart asserted that liberal media outlets are shifting the focus to the misleading excerpting …
