Obama Adds To Mosque Remarks: Says He Was Talking “Right”(s) Not “Wisdom”
President Obama told reporters in Panama City Beach, FL that his Friday night comments on the mosque near Ground Zero were focused on the right to express religious freedom, but not the wisdom of building a mosque there.
“My intention was simply to let people know what I thought. Which was that in this country we treat everybody equally and in accordance with the law, regardless of race, regardless of religion,” Obama said.
“I was not commenting and I will not comment on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there. I was commenting very specifically on the right people have that dates back to our founding,” Obama told reporters Saturday after delivering remarks in Panama City Beach, Fla. “That’s what our country is about.”
The so-called “values” people ought to take note, as Obama made the case that religious freedom is consistent with American values.
“I think it’s very important as difficult as some of these issues are that we stay focused on who we are as a people and what our values are all about,” he said, according to the pool report.Click here for reuse options!
