Because you can’t start propaganda too early, The Tea Party Coloring Book For Kids is out and, amazingly, the publisher says it’s not political, in spite of what it is pushing, which happens to be lines like:
“When taxes are too high, the high tax takes away jobs and freedom. In 1773 we had a Tea Party and this led to freedom from high taxes. Today we are having another Tea Party and this will lead to freedom from high taxes again!”
Also, that government-run health care “cannot be the only choice” and we should only “spend money…

Town leaders in Sidney, New York, 180 miles from Ground Zero, want Muslims to dig up and remove bodies buried in a graveyard on land the Muslims own.
They say the group, a Sufi religious order, is maintaining an illegal cemetery in Sidney, N.Y., – pop. 5,993.
A spokesman for the Osmanli Naksibendi Hakkani order claims the town okayed the burial ground five years ago and is singling them out now simply because they’re Muslims.
“I think it’s out of bigotry,” said Hans Hass, who also is the head of the local EMS unit. “They don’t like us being here, …

Rahm Emanuel is planning to leave the White House Friday to run for mayor of Chicago.
“He intends to run for mayor,” one person close to Emanuel told The Associated Press, requesting anonymity to avoid pre-empting the announcement.
Emanuel doesn’t have a lock on the job, as there will be much competition for the job.
Two people close to him said Thursday they did not know when Emanuel would officially declare he was entering the mayoral race, but that he would launch a website with a message to Chicago voters in the near future.…

Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu has a hold on the Obama appointee to take over the Office of Management and Budget, Jack Lew. Her demand: lift the drilling moratorium.
Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and other top administration officials have been pleading with Landrieu (D-LA) to release her hold on the nomination of Jack Lew to be President Obama’s new Office of Management and Budget director. But Landrieu says she won’t budge until the moratorium on Gulf Coast drilling is lifted.
There is so much wrong with this, it is hard to know where to start. Lew …

A group formed by Delaware Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell failed to provide the IRS with proper tax forms and risks losing its tax-exempt status.
IRS documents reviewed by The Associated Press show the group — Savior’s Alliance for Lifting the Truth — is on a list of thousands of small organizations threatened with revocation of nonprofit status because they have not filed returns for the past three years.
An attorney representing O’Donnell says this kind of oversight is common.…

Just before Tyler Clementi’s suicide, Rutgers University launched “Project Civility” “to create campus-wide culture of compassion, courtesy.” Meanwhile, the Star-Ledger writes how “technology magnifies the consequences of bad actions: Nothing is local when the Internet is your playground, as the horrific tragedy unfolding at Rutgers seems to attest.”
“The tools today are so much more powerful,” said Francis Jensen, a pediatric neurologist at Harvard and an expert on the adolescent brain. “Teenagers have never had this level of power. Pressing a button makes something private, global. It’s not the classroom anymore, it’s the world.”
I wonder if Dharun …

Anti-Obamaites love to talk about how companies are dropping health care coverage for its employees in advance of parts of the new heath care plan kicking in. McDonald’s is denying a Wall Street Journal report that it is dropping health care benefits for 30,000 employees.
“Media reports stating that we plan to drop health care coverage for our employees are completely false,” said Steve Russell, a senior vice president and head of human resources for McDonald’s, in a written response to the article. “These reports are purely speculative and misleading.”
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is jumping in:…

Has Christianity Failed You? by Ravi Zacharias
In the spirit of J.F.K.’s Ask not what your country can do for you, the title of this book prompted me to ask this question: Has Christianity failed you or have you failed Christianity?
You can wear a cross around your neck, affix a fish emblem to the back of your car and go to church on Sunday, but you have failed Christianity if your ideology trumps your ability to love thy neighbor.
But tomorrow …
