NY GOP Governor Candidate Carl Paladino Says He’d “Use All Legal Means” To Stop NY Islamic Center

Carl Paladino, who prides himself on being politically incorrect, had a contentious interview with CNN’s Rich Sanchez. Besides clearly not enjoying the questions from Sanchez, he spent a good deal of time talking about how he’d stop the New York Islamic center from being built in the unlikely event that he’s elected. “There’s no constitutional argument because it’s not freedom of religion,” he protested.

Delaware’s new GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, Christine O’Donnell, has a long trail of comments and expressed beliefs in years worth of interviews that are coming back to haunt her. When she was repping Concerned Women for America, she appeared on CNN to proclaim evolution a fraud and the Biblical view that God created the earth in one week a fact (h/t Think Progress).
CHRISTINE O’DONNELL: Well, creationism, in essence, is believing that the world began as the Bible in Genesis says, that God created the Earth in six days, six 24-hour periods. And there is just as …

Robert Scheer, journalist and Editor in Chief for the online magazine Truthdig, has just come out with a new book called The Great American Stickup: How Reagan Republicans and Clinton Democrats Enriched Wall Street While Mugging Main Street. The title is certainly provocative, but is it fair? Excerpts of the first chapter of the book have appeared online and after taking a look at Scheer’s argument, he makes a compelling case.
Scheer starts by arguing that Clinton deserves more of the blame for the current economic recession than Bush does because while Bush aggravated the situation, …

Syndicated columnist Cal Thomas wrote a column headlined “Purging Evil,” in which he says we should stop Muslim immigration, prevent the building of mosques, and disallow prisoners from converting to Islam.
…if we continue to allow Muslim immigrants, especially from Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen, into America. We won’t win this war if we permit the uncontrolled construction of mosques, as well as Islamic schools, some of which already have sown the seeds from which future terrorists will be cultivated. We won’t win this war if we continue to permit the large-scale conversion to Islam of prison inmates, many …

By James Frye
The Tea Party is celebrating today. Most of their candidates won in their Republican primaries. They are now online proclaiming this as proof that November will be theirs as well.
Ummm….no.
What this proved is that they have influence within the Republican Party and that’s it. The people really celebrating right now are the Democrats. This latest batch of crazies who now are the official nominees of the GOP are going to make the best argument for voting (D). This is being reflected in current polls: most of the Democrats who were “in trouble” in August have …

In 1996, Delaware GOP Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell was making the media rounds speaking out against, ahem, self-pleasure. She even said “Lust in your heart is committing adultery” (sorry Jimmy Carter). Rachel Maddow showed the unearthed video of this campaign.
O’Donnell also appeared regularly on Bill Maher’s “Politically Incorrect, where she was presented as “Christian activist.” TPM has videos.…

The latest blow against a woman’s right to choose has been struck by a bunch of men in Missouri:
At what point do we become human?
Missouri lawmakers have declared their answer. By withholding both his signature and his veto, Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon signaled that he agreed and recently allowed the legislative answer to become state law.
“The life of each human being begins at conception,” according to Senate Bill 793, which adds new regulations to the state’s 24-hour informed consent law for abortions. “Abortion will terminate the life of a separate, unique, living …

Obviously the big and fun news yesterday was all the crazies winning primary elections, a lot else was going on yesterday in the world of policy and politics.
S.C. Senate President Plays Dress-Me-Up As Confederate General Standing Next To “Slaves”

The president of the South Carolina Senate, Glenn McConnell, attended a South Carolina Federation of Republican Women event called “The Southern Experience,” dressed up as a Confederate general. If that wasn’t enough, he posed with two African-Americans dressed as slaves.
In addition to McConnell, S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford attended (and spoke at) the event – although it was not listed on his weekly public schedule. S.C. Republican Attorney General nominee Alan Wilson also attended.
Invited speakers to the NFRW conference included U.S. House Majority Leader John Boehner, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell, RNC Chairman Michael Steele, Rep. Joe Wilson, House …

Tea Party candidate Carl Paladino defeated Rick Lazio to win the GOP nod to run for governor of New York and will face Democrat Andrew Cuomo in November. This can’t be good for Republicans, given Paladino’s penchant for emailing racially charged and sexually graphic material. Paladino forwarded a series of these to friends and associates, but, hey, it’s just a joke, right?
“To me it’s just humor,” Paladino said. “I’m not racist and have never related Obama’s color to my political taste for him.”
“I’m not ethnic sensitive to ethnic humor,” he continued. “dago, spic, polack whatever we hear …
