Christine O’Donnell Wins Delaware GOP Bid For U.S. Senate

Delaware Republican Chairman Tom Ross said his new nominee, Christine O’Donnell, can’t win in November. Looks like the Republicans have a problem in their hands.
In the primary, Ross backed Mike Castle, a veteran congressman and former Delaware governor who had won 12 statewide races in a row before O’Donnell broke his string on Tuesday.
Republican party leaders saw Castle, a GOP centrist, as their best chance of taking the Senate seat that Vice President Biden occupied for 37 years before joining President Obama’s administration.
O’Donnell will face New Castle County Executive, Democrat Chris Coons, in November.…

Derek Fenton, who burned pages from the Quran outside the planned Islamic center near Ground Zero on September 11, was fired from his job with New Jersey Transit, where he has worked for 11 years.
“Mr. Fenton’s public actions violated New Jersey Transit’s code of ethics,” NJ Transit said.
“NJ Transit concluded that Mr. Fenton violated his trust as a state employee and therefore was dismissed.”…

Mr. Colmes,
Now I know to you I’m just one of those uneducated simpletons of middle America that you look down your nose at. Or at least that is how you come off on every program I see you on, on FOX NEWS…I could do your job in my sleep. I bet you couldn’t become educated or talented enough to be an electronic R&D technician in 5 years… who is the dumb one, smirk, smart-assed grin back at you. You egotistical morally corrupt idiot.

Stan Solomon, a volunteer campaign manager for Republican Marvin Scott (pictured), who is trying to unseat Indianapolis Congressman Andre Carson, resigned after it came to light that he was putting out hate-filled anti-gay Tweets. Scott offered this sort-of apology: “I have offered an apology, if this offended anyone in the gay community. I want to represent everyone. If I had known what he was doing, I would have fired him long ago.” Scott complains that without funding from the Republican Party, he can’t hire “professionals.”
Bil Browning at The Bilerico Project reported the offenses, and also points out that …

Conservative pundit Charles Krauthammer views the knee-jerk endorsements of tea party candidate Christine O’Donnell by Sarah Palin and S.C. Senator Jim DeMint “capricious” and “irresponsible.”
“The Palin endorsement, I think, is disruptive and capricious,” Krauthammer said Monday night on Fox News’ “Special Report.” “Bill Buckley had a rule that he always supported the most conservative candidate who was electable, otherwise the vote is simply self-indulgence.”
…
“Delaware is not Alaska,” Krauthammer said of the state’s former Republican governor. “In Alaska you can endorse a Joe Miller, whose going to win anyway though he’s more conservative. In Delaware, O’Donnell is going …

There are a bunch of fun primaries today including Charlie Rangel’s attempt to hang on to his seat in New York, but make no mistake, the action today is in the Republican Senate primaries in Delaware and New Hampshire. In both races, establishment candidates, Rep. Mike Castle in Delaware and New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte, are trying to hold off tea party-supported insurgents who could cost Republicans good shots at the Senate seats in November. Nate Silver:
Wins by the insurgents in both states would drop GOP chances of taking the Senate in half. And …

The Obama administration is seeking to sell Saudi Arabia advanced aircraft worth up to $60 billion in what Pentagon officials say would be the largest-ever single foreign arms deal. According to the terms of the deal, the Saudis will receive as many as 84 new F-15 fighter jets and three types of helicopters: 70 upgraded F-15s, 70 Apaches, 72 Black Hawks and 36 Little Birds. Let’s review what is offensive to the victims of the 9-11 attacks and what isn’t.
When totally innocent moderate Muslim-Americans like Imam Rauf and his wife Daisy Khan try to build …

FOX News’ Trish Turner got ahold of a robocall that went statewide in Delaware today, aimed at the solar plexus of tea party U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell, put out by her former campaign manager. In the call paid for by the Delaware Republican Party, Kristin Murray (pictured) is heard saying, “I got into politics because I believe in conservative values and wanted to make a difference. But I was shocked to learn that O’Donnell is no conservative.”
Murray said she left the campaign because, “As O’Donnell’s manager, I found out she was living on campaign donations – using them …

President Obama’s campaign manager David Plouffe appeared on my radio show Monday night to discuss the paperback version of his book, The Audacity to Win. I asked Plouffe his reaction to Newt Gingrich referring to Obama as someone with a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” worldview.
Plouffe: Two words come to mind for me: ‘sad’ and ‘reprehensible’…it makes me think he probably is running for president because he’s trying to cater to that extreme element…but it’s reprehensible.

Sarah Shourd, one of three American hostages held by Iran, was released to her attorney, after Switzerland, which represents U.S. interests in Iran, posted $500,000 bail.
Iran’s arbitrary handling of the cases of both its nationals and foreigners has resulted in much of the world believing they are pawns in the dispute over Tehran’s development of nuclear weapons.
Shourd is a resident of Berkeley, Calif. The other two Americans are Shane Michael Bauer, 27, and Joshua Felix Fatal, also 27. The three were arrested 14 months ago.
Bauer is Shourd’s fiance.…
