Virginia Beach GOP Chair Resigns After Forwarding Racist Email

What is it with Republicans and racist emails? Who does Virginia Beach Republican Chair David Bartholomew (pictured left) think he is, Carl Paladino? Gary C. Byler, the 2nd Congressional District Chairman, wants you to know that Bartholomew would never knowingly do such a thing, claiming,”Let me make it clear David Bartholomew does not tolerate racism. He never has. David would never knowingly forward racist material.”  Scott Rigell (pictured right), the Republican candidate for Congress in the 2nd District, and his opponent, Congressman Glenn Nye, called on Bartholomew to resign.

Judge Denies Government Effort To Delay Overturning Don’t Ask Don’t Tell

U.S. District Judge Virginia Phillips has denied a government attempt to stop her ruling that the policy of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell be halted.

[She] issued her ruling Tuesday after saying the government had not proven that her order would harm troops or impede efforts to implement new military regulations to deal with openly gay troops.

Jack Conway Leading Rand Paul In Latest Poll Following “Aqua Buddha” Ad

According to a poll conducted on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, Jack Conway is leading Rand Paul 49-47 in the race to determine the next United States Senator from Kentucky. This is the strongest showing by Conway since late June. The poll was conducted a day after Conway’s campaign released their controversial new “Aqua Buddha” ad. The ad is a reference to Paul’s membership in the”NoZe Brotherhood” during his college years at Baylor, a group that was banned at the school for their mockery and lack of respect for Christianity. Pentagon Says Recruiters Must Acccept Gay Applicants

Following the federal ruling to strike down Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, the Pentagon is telling recruiters they must accept gay applicants.

The guidance from the Personnel and Readiness office was sent to recruiting commands on Friday, according to spokeswoman Cynthia Smith.

The recruiters were told that if a candidate admits he or she is openly gay, and qualify under normal recruiting guidelines, their application can be processed. Recruiters are not allowed to ask candidates if they are gay as part of the application process.

Anti-Reid Ad Tells Hispanics Not To Vote

An ad by a group  called “Latinos for Reform,” which is really conservative consultant Robert de Posada, tells Nevada Latinos “Don’t vote.” It claims that Democrats haven’t done their job, so they should express themselves by not voting at all. It doesn’t say vote Republican instead. Just “Don’t vote.”  Politico has the original ad in Spanish. Below is the English version.

Sarah Palin Endorses John Raese For Senate From PA; Only He’s From WV

Sarah Palin used the Twitter to let her followers know how important it is for Pennsylvania to elect John Raese to the Senate.

Palin subsequently refudiated that Tweet with another one that tried to mask the error.

Christine O’Donnell Unaware Of Separation Of Church And State

In a law school debate before legal scholars, Delaware Republican U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell questioned where the Constitution calls for separation of church and state. O’Donnell either disagreed or didn’t know that establishing a state religion is unconstitutional.

…O’Donnell criticized Democratic nominee Chris Coons’ position that teaching creationism in public school would violate the First Amendment by promoting religious doctrine.

Coons said private and parochial schools are free to teach creationism but that “religious doctrine doesn’t belong in our public schools.”

Obama Did Cut Taxes For 95% Of Working Families. Why It Wasn’t Noticed

President Obama kept his promise to cut taxes for 95% of working families. Most Americans aren’t aware that it happened. That’s partly because state and local taxes have gone up as a result of less revenue sharing with the federal government (because of the Bush tax cuts).
