U.S Soldier Who Raped And Killed 14-Year-Old Girl: “I Didn’t Think These People Were Human”

20060703-MecklenburgcountyjailNC

Steven Dale Green, formerly with the 101st Airborne, is serving five life terms for raping and killing a 14-year-old girl and killing her parents and sister.  In his first interview since the 2006 killings, says his actions were fueled by two of his sergeants being gunned down and by a lack of Army leadership.

“I was crazy,” Green said in the exclusive telephone interview from federal prison in Tucson, Ariz. “I was just all the way out there. I didn’t think I was going to live.”

The former soldier, who apologized at sentencing for his crimes, said he wasn’t …

The Year’s Only Total Eclipse Of The Moon

Moon_Eclipse

Liked here are the best places to watch Monday night’s lunar eclipse. It is this year’s only total eclipse of the moon.

The eclipse will happen Monday night on the West Coast and during the wee hours Tuesday on the East Coast. Western Europe will only see the start of the spectacle; western Asia will catch the tail end.

The moon is normally illuminated by the sun. During a total lunar eclipse, the full moon passes through the shadow created by the Earth blocking the sun’s light. Some indirect sunlight will still manage to pierce through and give the moon …

House Democrats Introduce A Bill To Help “99ers”

640_cbc_chair_barbara_lee__d-ca_

By Yashwanth Manjunath

The 99ers are people who have exhausted the full 99 weeks of unemployment benefits without being able to find work. These are hard-working Americans who had jobs prior to the financial meltdown caused by the rapacious greed of the wealthiest and most powerful in the country. Right now there are  roughly five unemployed workers for every available job. That means that for 80% of the unemployed there simply are no jobs available no matter how hard they try. The Obama-McConnell tax cut raw deal does nothing for 99ers who have lost their last lifeline, through no …

Haley Barbour: “I Am Not A Racist”; Peter King: “I’m Willing To Be Called A Bigot”

haley-barbour-gop-presser-cropped-proto-custom_2

Mississippi governor and possible presidential candidate Haley Barbour praised the anti-integration Citizens Councils of his hometown in a profile in the conservative Weekly Standard.

“You heard of the Citizens Councils? Up north they think it was like the KKK. Where I come from it was an organization of town leaders. In Yazoo City they passed a resolution that said anybody who started a chapter of the Klan would get their ass run out of town. If you had a job, you’d lose it. If you had a store, they’d see nobody shopped there. We didn’t have a problem with the …

Michele_Bachmann_doh

Taegan Goddard asks the question, wondering if she as looking to challenge Amy Klobuchar in 2012, given the amount of money Bachmann has  raised.

There are no denials from camp Bachmann.

Bachmann spokesman Doug Sachtleben left the door open to a possible Senate run in a statement to The Hill. He said the congresswoman is focused on serving her constituents, but “nothing’s off the table for the future.”…

Virginia Lawmaker Wants To Ban “Active Homosexuals” From Serving In National Guard

20101219-204947-pic-23920567_s160x244

Virginia Delegate Robert G. Marshall says states have the right to bar gays from serving in National Guard units, and so he is responding to the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell by introducing a bill that would ensure “the effect of the 1994 federal law banning active homosexuals from America’s military forces will apply to the Virginia National Guard.”

“With the repeal of ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ President Obama seeks to pay back his homosexual political supporters,” the Prince William County Republican said, echoing a sentiment shared by many of the repeal’s most ardent opponents. “This policy will weaken …

Conservatives Want Amendment To Allow States To Overturn Federal Law

An effort is afoot to enhance states’ rights, as conservative favor a Constitutional amendment that would state that any regulation or law could be overturned if two-thirds of the states voted to do so.

The idea has been propelled by the wave of Republican victories in the midterm elections. First promoted by Virginia lawmakers and Tea Party groups, it has the support of legislative leaders in 12 states. It also won the backing of the incoming House majority leader, Representative Eric Cantor, when it was introduced this month in Congress.

Like any constitutional amendment, it faces enormous hurdles: it …

How The Government Is Monitoring You

images1

The United States government is assembling a vast apparatus to monitor Americans involving the FBI, local police, homeland security offices, and the military.

The system, by far the largest and most technologically sophisticated in the nation’s history, collects, stores and analyzes information about thousands of U.S. citizens and residents, many of whom have not been accused of any wrongdoing.

The government’s goal is to have every state and local law enforcement agency in the country feed information to Washington to buttress the work of the FBI, which is in charge of terrorism investigations in the United States.
