The “Patriots and Warriors” fundraiser in Colorado was canceled because, it was claimed, there were “safety concerns” about the former Alaska governor.  But Glendale Police Chief Victor Ross tells the Denver Post, “We’ve had no problems…  We are not aware of any specific threats.”(h/t Mediaite)

In a Facebook posting Jan. 10, the foundation said Palin would speak at a fundraiser for military families. Tickets were $185 each. On Friday, the foundation’s media relations manager again announced the speech, and ticket prices had been slashed by 50 percent.

On Saturday, the Centennial-based foundation said in a release that the event had been canceled “due to an onslaught of personal attacks against Gov. Palin and others associated with her appearance.”

Foundation director Leo Pacheco has not returned numerous phone, text or e-mail messages left since Friday. But he did tell KCNC-Channel 4 on Saturday that canceling Palin’s appearance seemed a prudent thing to do.

It is not known whether Palin was offered her usual $100,000 fee for the event. May 2 also happens to be the date of a presidential candidates’ debate at the Reagan Library in California. It will be interesting to see if Palin is there instead.
