Ann Coulter: Sarah Palin Has “So Much Power;” Presidential Run Would Be “A Step Down”

Ann Coulter told Sean Hannity that it would be “a step down” for Sarah Palin to run for president. But it’s good to keep the hat near the ring to bolster those speaking fees (h/t Mediaite).
“Every time I hear about Sarah Palin running for president.” She declined to say whether she would support Palin for president– “perhaps” was the best Hannity got out of her–but she also couldn’t see it happening. “She is so huge right now,” Coulter argued, “she has so much power. She sends down a Twitter on death panels and she shuts down the health …

by Sandi Behrns
One thing can certainly be said for the Republican Party: they don’t ever let a little thing like irony get in their way. In this case, we see former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who appears to be preparing for a presidential campaign in 2012, coming out as the first top Republican to actually utter the word “impeachment” in regards to President Obama. The high crime of which Obama is allegedly guilty? His recent decision to direct the Department of Justice to cease legal defense of the Defense of Marriage Act. Paul Bedard reports:…

We New Yorkers know how pricey it is to get good real estate in Manhattan. When Barack Obama was at Columbia he had pretty good digs for a student, on 109 St. The New York Daily News has some photos.

As if Arizona hasn’t caused itself enough trouble by anti-immigration laws that have attracted both condemnation and lawsuits, lawmakers are pushing for even more extreme measures (h/t Political Wire). These measures, like the one before it, are being heavily promoted by Republican State Senator Russell Pearce (pictured).
Illegal immigrants would be barred from driving in the state, enrolling in school or receiving most public benefits. Their children would receive special birth certificates that would make clear that the state does not consider them Arizona citizens.
Some of the bills, like those restricting immigrants’ access to schooling and right to …

President Obama has ordered a freeze on the U.S. assets of Muammar Qaddafi and members of his family and regime.
The executive order says that Qaddafi “and close associates have taken extreme measures against the people of Libya, including by using weapons of war, mercenaries, and wanton violence against unarmed civilians.”
Obama, in a statement, criticized the Libyan government for its “continued violation of human rights, brutalization of its people, and outrageous threats” and said the regime must be held accountable.
“We will stand steadfastly with the Libyan people in their demand for universal rights, and a government that is …

It’s obvious that Congressman Paul Broun, who said nothing at the time, condemned a question from a constituent about shooting president Obama because of the resultant uproar.
Rep. Paul Broun, a conservative who has harshly criticized the president, confirmed that at a town hall event in Oglethorpe County, Ga., on Tuesday a man asked, “Who’s going to shoot Obama?”
After the exchange was reported by the Athens Banner-Herald, Broun issued a statement Friday calling the question “abhorrent.”
“I deeply regret that this incident happened,” Broun said in a statement. “I condemn all statements — made in sincerity or jest — …

Former Wisconsin Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager says there are three potential ethics, election, and labor law violations in the prank phone call taken by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. The governor discussed his willingness to put agitators on the streets, certainly a public safety issue.
Lautenschlager noted, in particular, the governor’s reference to displaying a photo of former President Ronald Reagan at the dinner where he explained plans for his budget repair bill — which seeks to strip state, county and municipal employees of their collective bargaining rights, restructure state government in a manner that dramatically extends the power of the …

Virginia passed legislation to regulate abortion clinics in the same manner as hospitals, in a blatant attempt to force them to close down. You can see the exuberant look on the faces of three state Senators, Ryan T. McDougle, R-Hanover (from left); William M. Stanley, R-Pittsylvania; and Jeff McWaters, R-Virginia Beach, as they celebrated Thursday.
The 20-20 vote on Senate Bill 924, which now heads to Gov. Bob McDonnell, represents a significant victory for anti-abortion activists, who have been trying for years to restrict access to abortion in Virginia, only to have bills killed in the Democratic-controlled Senate Education and …

Former President George W. Bush has canceled a weekend appearance at the Young Presidents’ Organization because WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is scheduled there as well.
Mr. Bush’s spokesman David Sherzer said in a statement that Mr. Bush accepted an invitation to speak at the Denver summit six months ago. The former president was slated to speak at the event tomorrow.
“This week, upon learning that Julian Assange had recently been invited to address the same summit, President Bush decided to cancel his appearance,” Sherzer said. “The former president has no desire to share a forum with a man who has …
