Christine O’Donnell Wants You To Tell Her If She Should Appear On “Dancing With The Stars”

Former Delaware U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell has taken to her Facebook page to ask her fans if they would like her to accept an offer to perform on “Dancing with the Stars.”
The post garnered plenty of attention, with fans both urging and discouraging the conservative Republican from taking the (excessively sequined) plunge.
“One part of me says go for it. Another part of me says don’t because of what the leftists in the entertainment industry will try to do,” one commenter noted, adding: “BTW if you do go for it, you got my vote :)”
Maybe she’ll get …

The Department of Justice has announced it believes section 3 of the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, which prohibits the government from recognizing same-sex marriages, is unconstitutional, and will not defend its constitutionality. The statement by Justice is based an a Second Circuit ruling.
Section 3 of DOMA has now been challenged in the Second Circuit, however, which has no established or binding standard for how laws concerning sexual orientation should be treated. In these cases, the Administration faces for the first time the question of whether laws regarding sexual orientation are subject to the more permissive standard of …

A guy calls the governor’s office in Wisconsin, identifies himself as David Koch, a major contributor, and gets the governor on the phone. The prank was initiated by Ian Murphy because state Democrats complained they couldn’t get Walker on the phone.
So Murphy came up with a prank call: He posed as right-wing financier David Koch and called Walker’s receptionist. Shortly thereafter, he was on the phone with the governor himself. You can …read Adam Weinstein’s summary here. Walker’s office has confirmed the call was real.
Ezra Klein explains the problem:
…if the transcript of the conversation …

Indiana Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Cox had this response to a Mother Jones tweet saying that riot police could be used to clear protestors from the Wisconsin capitol (via Think Progress).
Cox remained steadfast in his position that the protestors should be killed when confronted on Twitter by Mother Jones’ Adam Weinstein, writing that “against thugs physically threatening legally-elected state legislators & governor? You’re damn right I advocate deadly force.” (There have been no reports that the protestors have physically threatened any elected officials).
The Indiana Attorney General’s office says his statements are “inflammatory” and “there will be an …

Removing workers’ bargaining rights saves no money, as TPM notes. The governor could initiate service rollbacks, furloughs and other measures if that were his intent.
Furthermore, this broadside comes less than a month after the state’s fiscal bureau — the Wisconsin equivalent of the Congressional Budget Office — concluded that Wisconsin isn’t even in need of austerity measures, and could conclude the fiscal year with a surplus. In fact, they say that the current budget shortfall is a direct result of tax cut policies Walker enacted in his first days in office.
“Walker was not forced into a budget …

One of the canards we keep hearing is that Wisconsin governor campaigned on what he is proposing in his budget repair bill, including eliminating collective bargaining rights. That is debunked by PolitiFact. Walker has insisted this was his campaign agenda.
“The simple matter is I campaigned on this all throughout the election. Anybody who says they are shocked on this has been asleep for the past two years.”
The statement echoed one at Feb. 17 news conference, in which Walker was even more emphatic that he campaigned on all the changes included in the entire budget-repair measure — not …

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, speaking to a joint session of Nevada lawmakers, says the state should outlaw bordellos.
…when it comes to attracting businesses, Reid said, “parents don’t want their children to look out of a school bus and see a brothel. Or live in a state with the wrong kind of red lights.”
“So let’s have an adult conversation about an adult subject,” he said.
Brooke Taylor, a prostitute at Bunny Ranch east of Carson City, called Reid’s speech “offensive” and said Reid should be proud of the way the state’s brothels regulate the sex industry.
“We’re …

During a Tucson radio interview, Senator John McCain said that the Social Security money is gone and that it’s a Ponzi scheme (via Think Progress).
HOST: Is it a simple thing like saying like everyone that’s under 50, you get to retire at 67 –
MCCAIN: Yeah, and for example, increase the age eligibility by a month every year or so, I mean, uh, lift the cap. Right now there’s a certain amount you pay into Social Security, and then after that it’s not taxed. There’s a number of things you can do to that are pretty simple and …

by Sandi Behrns
Ever since the world turned its eyes on the fiasco in Wisconsin, there have been mutterings that Governor Scott Walker should be recalled, although Wisconsin state law does not allow for it. (A person must hold elected office for more than one year before they can be subject to recall.) There are, however, no fewer than eight Republican state senators who meet that requirement. Left-wing Fantasy Land would see a recall of just three of those senators turning the legislature over to Democratic hands. Of course, that is just fantasy, and no serious effort has been made …
