Taegan Goddard picks up Jon Ralston’s story that failed Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle is going to run for the seat being vacated by Republican Congressman Dean Heller, who is running for Senate.
Angle, who lost a bid to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in November 2010, said in the video posted to YouTube that “the effort to bring the people’s voice back into government did not end in 2010.”…

A new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that Republicans are abandoning Sarah Palin.
For the first time in Post-ABC News polling, fewer than six in 10 Republicans and GOP-leaning independents see Palin in a favorable light, down from a stratospheric 88 percent in the days after the 2008 Republican National Convention and 70 percent as recently as October.
She is still at a 58% rating, third behind Mike Huckabee’s 61%, and Mitt Romney at 60% among presidential contenders, but her unfavorables are rising.
But Palin’s unfavorable numbers are significantly higher than they are for any of these possible competitors. Fully …

Brent Budowsky at The Hill makes an important point that is often overlooked: Jimmy Carter, unlike any president since, had it right on energy policy.
Nixon failed. Ford failed. Reagan failed. George H.W. Bush failed. Clinton failed. George W. Bush failed. Compared to the magnitude of the problem, Obama so far has failed. Democrats failed. Republicans failed. The House failed. The Senate failed…
When Carter said the energy crisis is the moral equivalent of war, he was absolutely right. Carter could have been a more perfect commander in the politics of passing an energy program. Yet the far larger fault …

by Sandi Behrns
Ever since Barack Obama won the presidency, we’ve had cause to see many media pieces on why it’s so hard to change a person’s mind, even when confronted with facts. Conspiracy and misinformation on the right have colored every aspect of Obama’s tenure: from birtherism to “pallin’ around” with terrorists; from being a secret Muslim to having had the election stolen for him by that most nefarious band of community organizers, ACORN.
The truth about ACORN is that it was (very important point here!) a collection of community organizations that worked on issues affecting lower …

South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint, speaking on a Family Research Council radio show, must have thought he was also speaking for God; for, according to DeMint, as the government gets bigger, God gets smaller.
DeMINT: Some are trying to separate the social, cultural issues from fiscal issues, but you really can’t do that. America works, freedom works, when people have that internal gyroscope that comes from a belief in God and Biblical faith. Once we push that out, you no longer have the capacity to live as a free person without the external controls of an authoritarian government. …

An amateur video obtained by Al Jazeera shows residents of the Japanese town of Minamisanriku running from their homes just inches ahead of the tsunami. (via Mediaite)
In the video, a group of people is seen trying to carry someone to safety as the water rushes toward them. People on a nearby hillside shout at them, “run faster!” As Al Jazeera’s Caroline Malone reports, the waters overwhelmed the town “houses, people, everything.”
