After Saying Her Whining Days Were Done, Palin Whines That Website Buried Her Quote

sarah-palin-112-cropped-proto-custom_2

Sarah Palin, having vowed to stop whining about her press treatment, is now complaining that a quote she gave to The Daily Caller wasn’t placed high enough in the story.

The publication, helmed by Tucker Carlson, quoted from a nearly 650-word statement she issued to them in response to an article on legislation she signed as governor of Alaska providing tax credits to production companies who film in Alaska. It also reprinted the entire statement on the next page of the article. This was not good enough, however, for Palin, who said that her statement was “buried.”…

“In response to …

Obama Goal To Cut Oil Dependency By 33% Over Ten Years

President Obama promoted the goal of reducing our dependency on foreign oil by a third over the next ten years.

Obama laid out four areas to help reach his target of curbing U.S. dependence on foreign oil: lifting domestic energy production, fostering the use of more natural gas in vehicles like city buses, making cars and trucks more efficient, and boosting alternative energy by encouraging biofuels.

“We cannot keep going from shock to trance on the issue of energy security, rushing to propose action when gas prices rise, then hitting the snooze button when they fall again,” he told students …

Economic Recovery Continues; 201,000 Jobs Added In March

r

Private sector jobs were added and layoffs fell in March, continuing the economic recovery.

“Basically the number was very much in line with expectations and shows that the labor recovery continues at a reasonable pace,” said David Katz, chief investment officer at Matrix Asset Advisors in New York…

Overall, 130,749 job cuts were announced in the first three months of the year, marking the lowest rate of downsizing since 1995.

The highest level of job reductions this year has been seen in the government sector, the report noted. Losses are expected to grow as cash-strapped state and local governments deal …

Tea Party Movement Losing Ground

101113_tea_party_ap_328

A new CNN/Opinion Research poll indicates that the tea party movement is at its lowest point since the poll began tracking it in January 2010, with a 32% approval rating.

Forty-seven percent of Americans, meanwhile, said they have an unfavorable view of the movement, a higher negative percentage than ever. Another 7 percent said they’d never heard of the movement, and 14 percent said they had no opinion…

The biggest drop in the tea party movement’s favorability came among people who make less than $50,000 a year. In October, 30 percent in that income group said they had unfavorable views …

56 Violations In U.S. Nuclear Power Plants

Dresden

An ABC News review of four years of Nuclear Regulator Safety Commission Records reveals 56 violations, including such items as missing or mishandled nuclear material, inadequate emergency plans, faulty backup power generators, corroded cooling pipes and even marijuana use inside a nuclear plant.

“The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has very good safety regulations but they have very bad enforcement of those regulations,” said David Lochbaum, a nuclear scientist with the nonprofit Union of Concerned Scientists…

Nevertheless, Lochbaum and the Union of Concerned Scientists found 14 “near misses” at nuclear plants in 2010. And there were 56 serious violations at nuclear …

Smear Campaign Part Two: Preemptively Attacking Academics

by Stuart Shapiro

Yesterday I wrote about Republican attempts to attack Professor William Cronon by getting a hold of his emails after he wrote an op-ed critical of Governor Scott Walker.  Well it seems that this idea of getting academic emails is not isolated to Wisconsin.  In Michigan, the conservative Mackinac Center for Public Policy has filed a FOIA request with three in-state universities.

A free enterprise think tank in Michigan — backed by some of the biggest names in national conservative donor circles — has made a broad public records request to at least three in-state universities with …

Hurling C-Words Over The Political Divide: Marquess Of Queensberry?

obama-communist-xtra-large-copy

by toma

They call the president “A Traitor and a War Criminal.” They call him a Kenyan, anti-colonial and a Mau Mau.

Mostly, though, they call him the social-satanist “c-word”: Communist, as they did in the European Union Times:

In what is being described as one of the most astounding power grabs in modern history by newspaper headlines around the World, President Obama has succeeded in his audacious plan to remake America into a full fledged godless communist empire barely one year into his term with the enactment into law by the US Congress of …

The Original Gangsta?

gangster-gov

by Gabe Berman
Gabe is the author of Live Like a Fruit Fly

As seen in the bookstore:

David Freddoso, the author of The Case against Barack Obama, just released a new book entitled Gangster Government.

Is it possible that President Obama is a gangster?

Of course it’s possible. Crazier things have happened. But any thinking person can’t take this book and its premise seriously based on the subtitle alone: Barack Obama and the New Washington Thugocracy.

The new Washington thugocracy? Are you kidding me? If Obama is a gangster, are we actually to believe he’s the first in Washington?…

Tom Corbett Crushes The Poor And Rewards Campaign Donor With Education Budget

corbett

By Yashwanth Manjunath

New Republican Governor Tom Corbett in Pennsylvania believes in shared sacrifice. That’s why he has decided to slash education funding by over $1 billion, while cutting corporate taxes. Wait, that doesn’t sound right? But it gets better.

In some instances, cuts to poor districts are ten times as high as cuts to more affluent districts, according to an analysis done by the Education Law Center. For example, the Steelton-Highspire School District, with a poverty rate of 68.2%, would get $1,139 less from the state per student, or $28,477 less for a class of 25. Meanwhile, Derry …

14-Year-Old Girl Charged With Adultery, Lashed To Death in Bangladesh

t1larg.hena_.father.cnn_

Darbesh Khan (pictured) and his wife Aklima Begum had to watch their 14-year-old daughter, Hena Akhter, being whipped to death, as the local Imam sentenced her to 101 lashes. Hena was raped by her cousin, an older man named Mahbub Khan, who was given 201 lashes as his punishment, but he was able to escape.

Her fellow villagers in Bangladesh’s Shariatpur district had already passed harsh judgment on her. Guilty, they said, of having an affair with a married man. The imam from the local mosque ordered the fatwa, or religious ruling, and the punishment: 101 lashes delivered swiftly, …
