New Black Panther Head Malik Shabazz In N-Word Infused Rant Against Obama
New Black Panther Party National Chairman Malik Shabazz lashed out at President Obama in a speech last week, making profuse use of the N-word and attacking him for going after Muammar Qaddafi. Caution: bad language.
Calling him an “Uncle Tom,” Shabazz said Obama “represents the white man.” Shabazz is a controversial figure — his calls for equal rights for blacks are often mixed with anti-Semitic rhetoric. In fact, the Anti-Defamation League calls the New Black Panther Party “the largest organized anti-Semitic and racist black militant group in America.” Shabazz took over as National Chairman after the equally controversial Khalid …

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says Democrats are ready to negotiate a budget deal, but that the Republicans can’t get their house in order, with the tea party faction derailing the ability to move forward. (h/t TPM)
“For the sake of our economy, it’s time for mainstream Republicans to stand up to the Tea Party and rejoin Democrats at the table to negotiate a responsible solution that cuts spending while protecting jobs,” he said…”The division between the Tea Party and mainstream Republicans is preventing us from reaching a responsible solution on a long-term budget that will make smart cuts …

A post here reflecting questions about Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann’s official bio raised the spectre that it was inaccurate when she claimed an LL.M degree in tax law from William and Mary. Because the college doesn’t offer that degree now, there was speculation that her bio was misleading. However, having checked with William and Mary, it was confirmed that Bachmann did obtain an LL.M degree in tax law when it was offered in 1988.…

Last week was the 100th anniversary of the fire at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory in New York City.
On Saturday, March 25, 1911, the end of the workweek, many of the young men and women toiling at sewing machines and cutting cloth at the Triangle Shirtwaist factory near Washington Square Park were getting ready to leave for the day when flames suddenly burst from a trash can on the eighth floor. The fire spread quickly through the factory, which had no sprinklers and where fire drills were not required, consuming the ninth and tenth floors as workers …

Donald Trump is making President Obama’s birth certificate a central part of his quixotic quest for the presidency. Trump began by dipping his toe into birther territory, but has now fully embraced the already-disproved concept that the president isn’t from here. One of Trump’s contentions is that “nobody knew him.” However, Hawaii Governor Neil Abercrombie has asserted that he could verify that Obama was born in his state, and that, “I knew his mom and dad. I was here when he was born. Anybody who wants to ask a question honestly could have had their answer already.” Trump …

At the Hamilton, Montana Radio Shack, you can get yourself a free gun when you sign up for the Dish Network. After all, you never know when something so enrages you that you have to shoot up your Tee Vee.
“I think it really, really fits the Bitterroot Valley,” said Steve Strand, who has owned Hamilton’s Radio Shack for about seven years.
Strand, along with store manager Fabian Levy, wanted to generate more foot traffic at their location. So far, the gun giveaway has worked like a charm.
“It’s been really successful,” Levy said.
Strand says it’s tripled his business.…

Photos resulting from the killing spree conducted by U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan have been published in Rolling Stone. Spc. Jeremy Morlock (pictured) was recently sentenced to 24 years for killing three civilians after admitting, “The plan was to kill people.” The release of these photos and the accompanying story are sure to be explosive.
The “kill team” – members of the 5th Stryker Brigade stationed near Kandahar – took scores of photos chronicling their kills and their time in Afghanistan. Even before the war crimes became public, the Pentagon went to extraordinary measures to suppress the photos, launching a …

Back in the 19th century, sending people to prison was considered a great way to deal with unpaid debt. These prisons were appropriately called debtor’s prisons until they were ruled unconstitutional. But today the US government thinks debtor’s prisons are just dandy if they are used for the purpose of punishing people who borrow from Wall Street financial institutions.
Take Jeffrey Stearns for example, a 29-year-old concrete-company owner. Stearns recently spent two nights in jail for not paying $4,024.88 owed to a unit of AIG on a loan for his pickup truck. He was only released …

Speaking in Iowa, Minnesota Congresswoman and 2012 presidential tease Michele Bachmann promoted a tax code to encourage “family formation” that would have the effect of punishing single mothers by giving tax breaks to those who are married.
Bachmann proposes implementing a tax system that would encourage “family formation.” The context of Bachmann’s remarks make it clear that she would like to either give tax credits, or lower tax rates to people who are married as opposed to those who are single. Given Bachmann’s past statement on gay rights, the lower tax rates and/or tax credits would also only apply to …

Get those clothes out of the dry cleaners (or just leave them there, since you won’t need them). Don’t buy any green bananas. Harold Camping, an Oakland, CA preacher, says the Second Coming will occur on May 21 at 6PM. Two percent of the world will ascend to heaven, and the rest of us are in deep trouble. Camping isn’t just any nut; he has a large following.
If Mr Camping were speaking from any normal pulpit, it would be easy to dismiss him as just another religious eccentric wrongly calling the apocalypse. But thanks to this elderly man’s ubiquity, …
