Newt Gingrich Says His Own Affairs And Divorce Helped Him Impeach Clinton

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who recently said he had affairs “partially driven by how passionately I felt about this country,” was asked by Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday if he thought it hypocritical to impeach Bill Clinton for the very thing he was doing. Gingrich replied that his affairs were helpful in understanding how to impeach the president.
WALLACE: There is something else that bothers people. You were leading the charge to push Bill Clinton from office for lying about an affair and yes, he lied in a court proceeding, in a deposition, where he was …

Nevada and other western states have been recipients of small amounts of radiation courtesy of Japan.
Extremely small amounts of the radioactive isotopes iodine-131 and xenon-133 reached a monitoring station by Las Vegas’ Atomic Testing Museum this week, said Ted Hartwell, manager of the Desert Research Institute’s Community Environmental Monitoring Program.
Hartwell said he’s certain the isotopes came from Japan because they’re not usually detected in Nevada. But he said the readings were far below levels that could pose any health risks…
California, Colorado, Hawaii and Washington have also reported tiny amounts of radiation from the Japan accident. Officials have …

Republican presidential hopeful Herman Cain told Scott Keyes of Think Progress he would not have Muslims in his administration. After telling Christianity Today that Muslims want to “convert all infidels or kill them,” Keyes asked for clarification when he caught up with Cain at the Conservative Principles Conference in Des Moines.
KEYES: You came under a bit of controversy this week for some of the comments made about Muslims in general. Would you be comfortable appointing a Muslim, either in your cabinet or as a federal judge?
CAIN: No, I would not. And here’s why. There is this …

After first dipping his toe into birther territory and then putting in an entire foot on The View, he seems to have now gone full birther on Geraldo’s show.
Asked about his comments on The View over the phone, Trump said, once again, that “the fact is that we haven’t seen his birth certificate,” arguing that the short-form certificate the President showed was “some document” that didn’t confirm anything. “I always give my credentials,” he told Rivera, “I like to give credentials. I’m a really smart guy. I’ve always been a really smart guy,” noting that he had gone …

In a Christianity Today interview referenced here, former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty, currying favor to run for president, said he loves being compared to Sarah Palin.
CT: You seem to get comparisons to Palin and Rep. Michele Bachmann.
PAWLENTY: [A comparison to] Sarah Palin, of course, is a compliment. She’s a force of nature, she’s kind of in a league of her own when it comes to attention and the media’s focus on her so far. I don’t know if she’s going to run or not, but I think she’s a remarkable leader. I know Congresswoman …

A woman who gave her name as Eban al-Obeidy burst into a hotel housing the foreign press in Tripoli saying she had been raped by forces loyal to Muammar Qaddafi. She ran into the Rixor Hotel to attempt to get help.
“…look at what the Qaddafi men did to me.” She displayed a broad bruise on her face, a large scar on her upper thigh, several narrow and deep scratch marks lower on her leg, and marks that seemed to come from binding around her hands and feet.
She said she had been raped by 15 men. “I was tied …

On Fox News’s Red Eye, possible Republican presidential candidate, former Arkansas Governor, and current media star Mike Huckabee doesn’t like that polls show we’re much more liked around the world now that Obama is president. Being liked, he believes, results from an apologetic foreign policy.
Huckabee made it abundantly clear he couldn’t care less what the rest of the world thought: “I’d rather us be feared than liked,” he told Gutfeld, adding that “I don’t want everybody to love us and like us if they’re still going to pick on us and kick sand in our eyes.” …

As Minnesota governor, GOP presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty wanted to expand minority home ownership, and so the state housing authority set up a program whereby Muslims could buy homes without interest payments by creating a lay-away-type plan. This gave low and moderate income immigrants who wanted to comply with their religious beliefs to become homeowners. Adam Serwer at The American Prospect suggested this could hurt Pawlenty with his base, given that he was giving a nod to Sharia law.
In 2004, then-Gov. Pawlenty urged the Minnesota Housing Financing Agency to partner with local groups and businesses in an effort to increase …

In spite of a judge’s order not to, Wisconsin Republicans published the law stripping public workers of collective bargaining rights.
The move looked certain to stir fresh controversy over the tactics used in efforts to implement and block the measure, which in recent weeks sparked massive demonstrations and brought national attention to Wisconsin.
Republican supporters of the bill said the judge’s temporary restraining order (TRO) on publication had not applied to the Legislative Reference Bureau (LRB), which published the legislation, Wisconsin Act 10, electronically on Friday.
Legal publication of the legislation is required for it to go into effect.
The …

Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson will bypass the exploratory stage and announce for the Republican nomination for president in late April, reports Fox news. Johnson has plans to visit New Hampshire after April 15, tax day.
Johnson is a strong supporter of legalizing marijuana and gay marriage. Strategists say his libertarian approach to GOP politics may prove very popular in the Granite State, whose motto is “Live Free or Die.”
Johnson has not himself, and will not when asked, state his intention to seek the White House. He currently runs a non-profit organization and under FEC regulations cannot …
