Charles Manson Believes In Climate Change; GOP Crazier Than Charles Manson

charles-manson-today

Gawker’s Max Read has the story of the interview Charles Manson gave to the Spanish Vanity Fair where he extols the importance of climate change.

‘Everyone’s God and if we don’t wake up to that there’s going to be no weather because our polar caps are melting because we’re doing bad things to the atmosphere.

‘If we don’t change that as rapidly as I’m speaking to you now, if we don’t put the green back on the planet and put the trees back that we’ve butchered, if we don’t go to war against the problem…’

So, yes, as Read posits, …

Speaker Boehner Won’t Reveal Cost To Defend Anti-Gay Law

clement-paul

House Speaker John Boehner has hired former Solicitor General Paul Clement to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, at a cost to the American taxpayer that he has so far refused to reveal (via Think Progress). Because the Department of Justice has decided it will not defend this law, Boehner wants funds from the DOJ to be given to the House to fight it.

Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. has previously criticized that idea, saying Justice Department lawyers have plenty of work to do with the funds they have. Pelosi, in a letter to Boehner in March, requested an …

We’re Safe Because Chuck Norris Will Protect Us From Sharia Law

chuck-norris-2

Chuck Norris is on guard against “radical Islamists” who would “use the freedoms in our Constitution to expand the freedoms of Sharia law” (h/t TPM). Theological and Biblical scholar Norris believes that “too many Americans don’t know or understand how it threatens the very fabrics of our republic.”

Instilling fear in every patriotic American, Norris believes that where the Muslim faith appears, Sharia law will follow.

The main point here is this: Where Muslim religion and culture has spread, Shariah law has shortly followed.

Of course, many Americans watch on video a Middle Eastern woman allegedly caught in adultery, …

Trump’s Big Problem: He’s Never Really Been A Conservative…Until Now

Picture-617-300x168

Stephen Hayes of the Weekly Standard reminds us that Donald Trump was an Obama/Pelosi supporter until a couple of years ago. On Fox News, Hayes referred to Trump as “a clownish figure.”

“The problem I think he has is that he’s sort of a clownish figure. He doesn’t really have any ideas. He was supporting Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama two years ago, he’s been on every side of every issue and in every conceivable political position over the past decade. So he’s not a terribly serious candidate.”

Chris Chocola, president of the Club for Growth, has a list of …

Oil Rig Safety: Still A Long Way To Go

oil_rig_PENDING

by Stuart Shapiro

Implementation.  It is the messy stuff of putting a policy in place that the media usually doesn’t pay attention to.  It is also what determines the success or failure of a policy initiative.  Last week I wrote about the FDIC’s relatively weak regulations implementing financial reform.  Looking at another response to a disaster, the Times reports on efforts to refocus the Minerals Management Service (renamed the Bureau of Ocean Energy, Management, Regulation and Enforcement) on oil rig safety.

But is it fixed? The simple answer is no. Even those who run the agency formerly known as the …

Alabama GOP Congressman Forced To Retract Calling Democrats “Socialist”; Repeats Charge In Interview

brooks

Alabama Congressman Mo Brooks says he doesn’t regret referring to Democrats as “socialist” on the House floor, and that those who object are being “thin-skinned.”

“Folks, we are here today forcing this issue because America is at risk. We are at risk of insolvency and bankruptcy because the socialist members of this body choose to spend money that we do not have,” Brooks said.

Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., interrupted and asked that Brooks’ remarks be “taken down,” a rare disciplinary action in which the clerk reports what was said and the person presiding over the House session determines whether the …

Trump Calls Obama’s Second Book “Chicken Sh*t”

trump_tea_party

The Donald, staying classy while addressing a tea party event, continued his conspiracy theory that President Obama’s second book was written by activist Bill Ayers. Trump believes the first book, Dreams from My Father, was well-written, while the second one, The Audacity of Hope, not so much. As CNN put it (via Mediaite):

As he touted his business bona fides, Trump mentioned how his wife urged him against being “conceited.” And while claiming there were huge writing differences between Obama’s first book, “Dreams From My Father”, and the second, “The Audacity of Hope,” Trump used profanity to …

Wash Examiner: Obama Not A Nice Guy. Aw, Did He Hurt Your Fewings?

3757968_0

The right-wing Washington Examiner is out with an attack piece on President Obama called “Mean streak: Obama is not as nice as he looks.” Apparently, it’s okay to question the president’s birthplace, his faith, his patriotism, his cultural appropriateness to be president, and his qualifications for the job, but the minute he does a speech drawing a line in the sand between his vision for America and those who would destroy our social compact, he becomes “mean”.  The editorial falsely refers to a “failed stimulus program” and the derisively titled “Obamacare”.  The piece goes on to say:

Odds are we …
