Donald Rumsfeld’s Ongoing Narrative On Bin Laden Capture
Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld first spoke to Newsmax about the death of Osama bin Laden and said no waterboarding or harsh interrogation was used and, in fact, stated that “normal interrogation approaches at Guantanamo” were used.
Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld tells Newsmax the information that led to the killing of Osama bin Laden was obtained through “normal interrogation approaches” and says the notion that terrorist suspects were waterboarded at Guantanamo Bay is a “myth.”
Rumsfeld then went on Sean Hannity’s show to claim waterboarding was key to getting information.
I think that anyone who suggests that the enhanced techniques, let’s be blunt, waterboarding, did not produce an enormous amount of valuable intelligence, just isn’t facing the truth. The facts are, General Mike Hayden came in, he had no connection with waterboarding anybody. He looked at all the evidence and concluded that a major fraction of the intelligence in our country on al Qaeda came from individuals, the three, only three people who were waterboarded.
Then, on Fox and Friends Wednesday morning, Rumsfeld went so far as to suggest that interrogation techniques by the Obama administration would never have led to getting him.Click here for reuse options!
