Hillary Clinton And Netanyahu Agreed On 1967 As Basis For Talks Just This Past November

636_Clinton_Netanyahu

If Benjamin Netanyahu was “furious” in a phone call to Hillary Clinton, it is striking that there was no outcry when Hillary Clinton and Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to use the 1967 borders as a basis for negotiations six months ago. Andrew Sullivan has the joint statement they issued at the time.

The Prime Minister and the Secretary agreed on the importance of continuing direct negotiations to achieve our goals. The Secretary reiterated that “the United States believes that through good-faith negotiations, the parties can mutually agree on an outcome which ends the conflict and reconciles the Palestinian goal …

Jeremy Giefer May Be Tim Pawlenty’s Willie Horton

giefer-thumb-200x173

Tim Pawlenty voted with two other members of the Minnesota Board of Pardons to wipe clean the criminal sexual record of Jeremy Giefer (h/t RAW STORY).

In 1993, Giefer, then 19 years old, had fathered a daughter with his girlfriend, who was only 14 years old at the time of conception. He pleaded guilty to statutory rape, but claimed to the Star Tribune that he was being unfairly singled out for sticking around and supporting his girlfriend when other men would have bolted.

Giefer served 45 days in jail for the transgression, and 15 years later asked for a …

A Tax A Conservative Could Love?

by Stuart Shapiro

OK, a conservative economist, not a conservative politician, but still?  Irwin Stelzer, an economist at the conservative Hudson Institute, has written a paper entitled, “Carbon Taxes: An Opportunity For Conservatives?” Hahn and Passell summarize the main point:

Still, the idea of a carbon tax has a lot going for it. The tax would raise revenue – perhaps a lot of revenue — that could be used to offset other, less efficient taxes (like the payroll and corporate income taxes) or to reduce the budget deficit. It would harness market forces to the task of transitioning to carbon-saving …

Harold Camping, the doomsday soothsayer, says he made a mistake predicting doomsday for May 21. He claims he was off by five months.

The independent Christian radio host said Monday the apocalypse will come five months after May 21, the original date he predicted.

Camping says he felt so terrible when his doomsday prediction did not come true on Saturday that he left home and took refuge in a motel with his wife.…

Former “Palin-Bot” Says She’s Vindictive, Unethical, In New Book

51JmkBUFU9L._SL500_AA300_

Frank Bailey is out with Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin and it isn’t pretty. A one-time “Palin-bot” as her loyalists were once called, the former aide realized things weren’t as they seemed.

In Palin, he found a leader who elegantly fused faith and politics. She exuded charm, energy and idealism, and, most important, she inspired trust. Bailey was politically smitten: “In my mind, God had chosen her, and this was His will.”

Bailey’s source material consists of 50,000 exchanged emails.…

Temporary restraining order while objectors fight “to maintain the integrity of our history”

Councilman worries about a “minority becoming a majority”

…Councilman Reed Williams, an Anglo Republican from the North Side… said he took pride in working on an inclusive and deliberative council.

“This action feels different to me,” he said. “It feels like a political majority is pushing its will, and it doesn’t have to.”

That wasn’t wrong in itself, but then a few minutes later, after a riff about what Chavez would think, Williams said this: “The political majority should concern us all, particularly for a group of …

Pawlenty Didn’t Tell Entire “Truth” In Presidential Announcement

tim-pawlenty

Presidential hopeful Tim Pawlenty called his announcement “a time for truth,” only that wasn’t what we got in each case.

PAWLENTY: “The truth is, people getting paid by the taxpayers shouldn’t get a better deal than the taxpayers themselves. That means freezing federal salaries, transitioning federal employee benefits, and downsizing the federal work force as it retires.” — Campaign announcement.
FACTS
: A federal pay freeze is already in effect. Obama proposed and Congress approved a two-year freeze on the pay of federal employees, exempting the armed forces, Congress and federal courts.

PAWLENTY: “ObamaCare is unconstitutional.” — USA …
