Ed Asner Waiting For Scalia To “Kick The Bucket… I Hope He Eats A Lot More Spaghetti”

ed-asner

Legendary actor and activist Ed Asner appeared on radio with me to talk show business and politics. He plays Warren Buffett in the upcoming HBO film Too Big to Fail. He says he considers himself a socialist, and is upset that the world liberal has been demonized. Talking about the Supreme Court, Asner pines for the day Justice Antonin Scalia “kicks the bucket,” and is “hoping he eats a lot more spaghetti.”

The Right-Wing’s Phony Outrage About Obama’s Israel Policy

images3

Obama is being criticized for an anti-Israel stance

In fact, his words were staunchly pro-Israel

President Obama’s call for a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from the West Bank following an agreement. Prime Minister Netanyahu wants to keep a residual force in the Jordan Valley (as does the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which won’t admit this publicly). The key here is the word “phased,” which could mean anything. Israel could keep troops in the valley for 10 years after an agreement.

A much bigger deal: Obama’s forthright denunciation of the unilateral Palestinian plan to seek the General Assembly’s endorsement this …

Now Gingrich Says He Didn’t Say What He Said

gingrich

Newt Gingrich told Rush Limbaugh he wasn’t talking about Paul Ryan when he said “right-wing social engineering”

Then why did he apologize to Ryan?

“It was interpreted in a way which was causing trouble which he doesn’t need or deserve,” Gingrich said. “My answer wasn’t about the budget, and I promptly went back to say publicly that I would have voted for the Ryan budget.”

But it’s obvious Ryan was being discussed:

GREGORY: Do you think that Republicans ought to buck the public opposition and really move forward to completely change Medicare, turn it into a voucher program where …

He said he spoke too soon.

“I know I said that,” Nelson replied. “But I think I will wait and see where he stands on other things. My bad. Sorry. I still think he is a good guy but so Is Dennis [Kucinich] and if he decided to run I would personally vote for him. If it came down to either him or Gary I’m already committed to Dennis. They both have said they support legal pot.”

It’s Still The Economy Stupid

by Stuart Shapiro

More specifically, it’s still jobs, stupid.  While the Bin Laden capture and the tumult in the Middle East has rightly seized headlines, we are still clawing our way out of a recession, and our ability to do so will impact our ability to maintain our world leadership and, of course, dramatically affect the presidential election next year.  Ezra Klein points out the benefits of focusing on jobs for the economy and for the deficit.

The jobs crisis is vastly more pressing than our debt problems, but it’s also, in two mostly unnoticed ways, interconnected. For one thing, …

Keith Ablow, Fox News Shrink: Maria Should Take Arnold Back

arnold_schwarzenegger_maria

She should have seen it coming reasons psychiatrist Keith Ablow. And infidelity is no reason to end a marriage, he says.

Surely, Ms. Shriver understood that in marrying a man who needed to build up his muscles as no man before him had ever done, a man who needed to be a film star, a man who needed to marry into a famous American family and a man who still needed the affirmation of a state’s voters, that she was marrying a man with deep needs for admiration and affirmation. More data could have been found in his well-known needs …

Sarah Palin Blames “Lamestream Media” For Gingrich “Trap”

090608_palin_gingrich_apcomp_297

Sarah Palin says what happened to Newt Gingrich is a good example of why Republicans running for president should avoid the “lamestream media.”

“There’s got to be the preparation on all the candidates’ parts for those gotchas. That’s what the lamestream media is known for nowadays is the gotcha trip-up questions,” she told Sean Hannity on his Fox News Channel show Wednesday…

“I don’t know why politicians feel that they have to apologize for something that they said just because they’ve gone through a 24-hour cycle of the lamestream media giving them a hard time,” she said. “If Newt Gingrich …
