Boehner To Obama: We Write The Laws; You Sign Them–Or Not

House Speaker John Boehner relayed to fellow Republicans on a conference call what he told President Obama:
“As I read the Constitution, the Congress writes the laws and you get to decide what you want to sign,” Boehner said, recounting what he told the president, according to two sources.
And now, Congress is trying to work it out among themselves.…

A strain of right-wing radicalism is rearing its ugly head in Europe, fueled by anti-Muslim sentiment, globalization and multiculturalism.
The bombing and shootings in Oslo also have served as a wake-up call for security services in Europe and the United States that in recent years have become so focused on Islamic terrorists that they may have underestimated the threat of domestic radicals, including those upset by what they see as the influence of Islam…
[Norway's right-wing scene is connected to the rest of Europe through the Internet forums where hate speech proliferates and through right-wing demonstrations that draw an …

Britain’s Business Secretary Vince Cable:
“The irony of the situation at the moment, with markets opening tomorrow morning, is that the biggest threat to the world financial system comes from a few right-wing nutters in the American congress rather than the euro zone,” he told BBC television.…

Submitted by Karthiks
If our founding fathers wanted a balanced budget they would have put it in the Constitution in the first place. There’s a reason why they didn’t.
The Constitution did not omit limits on taxes and borrowing because of an oversight. Under the Articles of Confederation, the federal government had been paralyzed because of its inability to raise revenue, and one of the chief purposes of the Constitution was to give the government the fiscal powers it had previously been denied. During the ratification debate, those fiscal powers were at the heart of the Anti-Federalist case against …

John Podhoretz at Commentary actually thinks President Obama wants to talk the markets into a panic.
An enraged Barack Obama just took to the nation’s airwaves to announce his effort to strike a deal with Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner has fallen apart. Perhaps for the first time in American history, this president is literally using this press conference to create a financial panic over the weekend about the opening of the markets on Monday.
That’s the ticket! Our America-hating president wants to force Republicans to a deal, and is willing to scare the markets to do it, …

Now the knee-jerkers have to deal with the suspect likely being anti-Muslim.
Only later was the news released that the suspect taken by police, Anders Behring Breivik, was apparently a conservative, right-wing Christian with strong anti-Muslim and anti-immigration beliefs. Many in the media were left reeling over the fact that others were so quick to report and comment that Muslims were involved, before there was clear evidence.
As Glenn Greenwald put it:
Al Qaeda is always to blame, even when it isn’t, even when it’s allegedly the work of a Nordic, Muslim-hating, right-wing European nationalist… we’ve seen repeatedly: that …

Oregon Democratic Congressman David Wu is expected to address Congress about allegations of an unwanted sexual encounter.
The Oregonian reported that a young woman from California has accused the Democrat of an unwanted sexual encounter last November, an allegation the newspaper said Wu acknowledged but said was consensual. The newspaper said the information came from multiple sources familiar with the allegation.
Late Friday, Wu issued a one-sentence statement about the allegation: “This is very serious, and I have absolutely no desire to bring unwanted publicity, attention or stress to a young woman and her family.”
