Donald Trump Threatens To Run As An Independent

Like Freddy Krueger, he keeps coming back (via Political Wire).

DONALD TRUMP: I’m going to see who going to the Republican nominee. I’m going to be looking at the economy. If the economy continues to do badly, which I think it will, because the administration does not know what they are doing. If the economy continues to do badly, and if the Republicans pick somebody that I think is the wrong person and isn’t going to win, I would seriously consider running as an independent. The reason I have to do it that way is because as you …

Saudi Law Would Put Dissenters In Jail With No Trials

01_KING

It’s good to be the king.

A proposed Saudi counterterrorism law that would give the Interior Ministry sweeping powers and mandate jail sentences for criticizing the king would effectively squelch political dissent, human rights advocates said on Thursday.

The law would allow prisoners to be held without trial, and trials and appeals to be held secretly, Saudi and international rights advocates said. It would also grant the Interior Ministry broad powers including the ability to tap telephones or search houses without permission from the judiciary.…

Will Liberals And Democrats Be Able To Live With Debt Deal?

Obama+Joins+Congressional+Leaders+Tribute+wUW-cZcZDsOl

If rumors of the deal details are true, there will be fury.

With 12 days left until the Treasury begins to run short of cash, Obama and Boehner (R-Ohio) were still pursuing the most ambitious plan to restrain the national debt in at least 20 years. Talks focused on sharp cuts in agency spending and politically painful changes to cherished health and retirement programs aimed at saving roughly $3 trillion over the next decade.

More savings would be generated through an overhaul of the tax code that would lower personal and corporate income tax rates while eliminating or reducing …

The Tennessee theme park is being accused of discrimination.

Olivier Odom, along with partner Jennifer Tipton and kids of their friends, just wanted to experience a fun day at Dollywood Splash Country. But the excitement quickly turned sour when a Dollywood gatekeeper told Odom she had to turn her “marriage is so gay” T-shirt inside out if she wanted to enter the park.

“I was in disbelief. I didn’t think it was the policy of Dollywood to discriminate against the LGBT community,” Odom said.

Rick Perry’s “Abstinence Only” Sex-Ed Resulted In Highest Teen Pregancy Rates In U.S.

perry

More kids are sexually active and are getting pregnant in Texas.

Texas lawmakers cut sex ed from two six-month courses to a single unit of “abstinence only” education. But early indications showed that the program wasn’t working. In fact, teens in almost all high school grades were having more sex after undergoing the abstinence only program. By 2007, Texas had the highest teen birth rate in the nation.

Nevertheless, the program continued. By 2009, 94 percent of Texas schools, which at the time were educating more than 3.7 million students, were giving no sex ed whatsoever beyond “abstinence only,” …

Ronald Reagan: Commie Sympathizer?

images1

by Stuart Shapiro

Up is down, wrong is right, Ronald Reagan has become the object of Democratic propaganda and conservative scorn.  Steve Benen explains.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had a nearly identical take last year, arguing Reagan “would have a hard time getting elected as a Republican today.” I agree, but shouldn’t that tell the political world something about the radicalism of today’s GOP? What should Republicans take away from the fact that, by 2011 standards, their party would dismiss their demigod as a tax-raising, amnesty-loving, pro-bailout, cut-and-run, big-government Democrat?

Dems are reveling in this. Indeed, just this morning, …

Arnold Wants To Deny Spousal Support To Maria

Schwarzenegger-and-Shriver-1

Arnold Schwarzenegger aims to deny Maria Shriver spousal support.

Schwarzenegger is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s two underage children, 17-year-old Patrick and 13-year-old Christopher, with visitation rights to be split evenly.

But that’s where the splitting evenly part stops. Schwarzenegger’s attorney Robert Kaufman is requesting a judge terminate the court’s jurisdiction to award spousal support to Maria.…

Pentagon To Certify It Will End “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”

DADT

The Pentagon will certify on Friday that it will end the policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

The ban formally disappears in September.…
